Every child deserves a safe and happy childhood. Each year, one billion boys and girls are victims of violence, robbing them of their innocence and leaving lifelong scars. Violence erodes every investment that families, communities and governments make in children, from their education to their mental and physical health. Damaging the childhoods of today and societies of tomorrow. But solutions exist, and we are the first generation with the power, and knowledge, to ensure every child is protected. This November, the first-ever Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children takes place. A responsibility and opportunity to deliver change. On behalf of the one billion children affected by violence, we urgently call on world leaders to participate and pledge actions to keep every child safe. Childhood is in our hands. The power to act is now in yours. Read more about the campaign and check out how you can make a difference here: https://lnkd.in/d-39n2cS

We're not advocating for less support in other areas, but rather calling for more equitable and robust funding to tackle GBV at its roots. Together, let's prioritize resources for a safer, more inclusive future. Learn more here: https://buff.ly/3vrUBdS

As I face yet another conference day with key stakeholders working to protect our communities from mass violence I wear my suit with green Converses. Even as a mass shooting survivor, these conversations can get a bit lofty and feel detached from the reality of the subject we all work on. In those moments it feels important to be able to glance down and be remimded of the human impact of our vital work - this is why: https://lnkd.in/dBZvm8yu

NEW WEBINAR! How creating safe environments prevents violence against children This seminar unpacks lessons learnt from successful interventions that build safe environments for children. Research suggests that projects to create and sustain safe environments can reduce and prevent violence against children. These include interventions in the built environment where children gather and play, and targeted actions in violence hotspots. This is one of the evidence-based strategies in INSPIRE: 7 Strategies to Prevent Violence Against Children. But how do these initiatives work, and what makes them successful? https://lnkd.in/dXfYmqun
