Last week, the Education Data and Statistics Commission (EDSC), co-chaired by Silvia Montoya, Director of the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS), and Manos Antoninis, Director of the GEM Report UNESCO, convened to discuss updates on SDG 4 indicators, including coverage, guiding principles, and key reporting criteria. The dialogue set the stage for preparing the 2024-2026 work plan to advance recommendations from the Conference on Education Data and Statistics. The Education Data and Statistics Commission (EDSC), formerly the TCG, provides a platform to discuss and develop the indicators used for monitoring the Education 2030 targets in an open, inclusive and transparent manner, involving the main stakeholders. The UNESCO Institute for Statistics Conference on Education Data and Statistics held in #Paris, between the 7th – 9th February has come and gone, but our core message has continued to reverberate. ADEA’s Executive Secretary, Albert Nsengiyumva was a panelist on Day 3 of the event, where regional bodies interrogated the best approaches to work together to improve data use in decision-making and how to support member countries to improve the collection of relevant data to track progress against global education goals. Albert’s submissions at the panel highlighted how ADEA has worked with its member states through the life of the various frameworks and milestones in improving Member States’ ability to collect, manage, and report on quality data, working with various partners such as UIS. The experiment results validated our criteria: "without metadata, NO data can be found/retrieved, even by the most advanced technologies, like artificial intelligence (AI), supercomputers, etc.". https://lnkd.in/g-aJFnXR Our intellectual property (IP) is a copyrighted metadata, a human intelligence, NOT artificial technology. It can extract real time (2024.02.13), Chinese-English multilingual information about US patent holders/holding, based on the census geographical locations in Canada, mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Middle East (Israel, Saudi Arabia, UAE) and Europe (Austria, Germany, Switzerland, UK). With this IP of ours, we are doing what ChatGPT, an icon of AI, can NOT do. It can also make your information service UNIQUE in the world. Experiment results showed that our IP can distill multilingual information to answer the following questions, but ChatGPT can NOT; for example, a pure English question like: "Who, in England of UK, has new US patents granted on February 13, 2024?" or a Chinese-English multilingual question like: "Who, in the '湖北' province of mainland China, has new US patents granted on February 13, 2024?" Does this ring a bell?

📊 The LASER for Education Information Ecosystem Assessment is a tool launched by the UNESCO Institute for Statistics to assess whether a country’s education data ecosystem is collecting and leveraging the variety of data sources required for policy-making and overall governance of the education sector. The UIS works closely with more than 200 member countries and territories, regularly collecting education data to generate and improve information. LASER builds upon these and other data sources: it identifies them, compiles them, and establishes priorities that must be monitored globally.
