✳️ Challenge: The covers were undergoing a very intense corrosion process, classified as high grade. Requires cleaning with the removal of oxidation deposits to ensure adhesion. 🛠️ Scope of Activities and Solution: - Dry Abrasive blasting was applied creating the necessary profile and removing any contaminants from the substrate; - A degreaser was used to eliminate all non visible contaminants; - Maxceramic MAX1612 was applied by brush to protect all affected areas. ✅✅ Conclusions: After final inspection all punctured tubes were plugged, and all dividing plates and lids were protected successfully with Maxceramic MAX1612 the asset successfully returned to service right after curing. A single hour of downtime in this part of the plant can cost tens of thousands of dollars in lost productivity. For the Roy Hill team, they’re doing something different. They were previously using rubber-lined launders but the highly abrasive iron ore slurry wore through the liners too fast. Rubber liners can become quite rough as they wear. We find polyurethane liners maintain their smoothness for longer. We suggested Abrasiguard launders would be better for this application because the wear liner is more durable. It also has reduced friction loss in this application. Two years on, they’re still going strong.
