Bluescope Steel at Port Kembla, NSW, Australia has recently completed an installation of Sicut Railway Sleepers composite bearers on a turnout replacing degraded timber. The installation team commented that it “…handled just like timber and the installation was simple, quick and easy…” The use of composite bearers, unlike the carbon intensive and very expensive concrete option, provided BlueScope Steel with a circular economy solution when searching for a reliable, long term and economical replacement for the traditionally used but ever diminishing supply of timber. These composite bearers are made from waste plastic and are fully recyclable at the end of their life, making them truly sustainable and a great example of what the circular economy can achieve. You'll be able to see the Sicut sleeper for yourself at AusRAIL Plus in November, or read more here: https://lnkd.in/e9EK3-K7. #bluescope #sustainable rail #circular economy #sicut

#ThrowbackThursday to when we first installed asphalt containing a recovered carbon product made from old tyres as part of the Pound Road West Upgrade. One year ago today, we celebrated the start of a two year trial of an alternative asphalt product in partnership with Tyre Stewardship Australia, Major Road Projects Victoria, Entyr Limited, Seymour Whyte and Alex Fraser. In a Victorian-first, a 500-metre stretch of road was laid with asphalt containing a recovered carbon product extracted from waste tyres. This was used in place of the fine ground limestone normally used, but is subject to a very carbon intensive mining and manufacturing process. The early results have been nothing short of extraordinary! As can be seen in the picture below – the asphalt containing the recovered carbon product (the right carriageway) is showing little to no wear and tear. This is a remarkable result and demonstrates the continued success of the Recycled First Policy in driving better engineering and sustainability outcomes. These trials are of vital importance to measure the performance of new sustainable construction materials in real world conditions and make these products business-as-usual. Make sure you keep an eye on this page to see the full results of the trial in a years’ time! #innovation #greenerinfrastucture #recycling

It may not look pretty, but installing this concrete batching plant at one of our Queensland #logistics developments is significantly reducing carbon emissions and local disruption. By removing the requirement for concrete trucks to run back and forth from the site over a two-month period, we estimate this initiative will have eliminated carbon emissions from an estimated 800 truck journeys. #sustainability #ESG #development #logisticsdevelopment

The construction industry is undergoing a sustainable revolution, and concrete pulverizer attachments are at the forefront of this transformation! High-performance pulverizer attachments efficiently break down concrete structures, minimizing waste and maximizing recyclability. Their customizable jaw configurations adapt to diverse project needs, from primary demolition, secondary pulverizing, or cutting reinforcements. Key benefits of concrete pulverizer attachments include reduced environmental impact through on-site concrete recycling, cutting down on heavy debris transportation, and lowering carbon emissions. These attachments also contribute to material reusability by turning concrete waste into recycled aggregate for new projects. We are celebrating the international #DayOfForests! ↟↟ For many generations, the life of the HASSLACHER group has been rooted in wood. This wonderfully renewable raw material that makes up our family and company history. ↟↟ Wood as a renewable resource has been used as a building material for thousands of years. ↟↟ Forests are crucial to the natural carbon cycle on Earth. The ability of trees to convert carbon dioxide (CO2) using sunlight and release oxygen is fundamental to life on earth. ↟↟ The trees store life in the most versatile and sustainable raw material in the world - our wood. That's why the sustainable management of our forests and the sensible use of wood are our top priority. ↟↟ Every tree that is felled has to grow back. 100 percent of its wood are recycled. From the bark to the trunk to the crown. Biomass is becoming an environmentally friendly energy source. New things emerge from old things. ↟↟ By producing long-lasting and durable wooden building products, the carbon that has already been bound can remain stored in the buildings, while a new, young tree removes further CO2 from the atmosphere and stores it in its wood mass through the photosynthesis process. As a result, timber construction products actively contribute to climate protection. ↟↟ As a global innovation leader for modern timber construction, the HASSLACHER group has specialized in intelligent and integrated system solutions for the use of the renewable resource wood. Hybrid solutions using mass timber, concrete and steel now allow spans and building heights that were unthinkable just a few years ago. -- You can find all information about sustainability and resource management at the HASSLACHER group here: https://bit.ly/35iZLvm Here is the link to the video: https://lnkd.in/dGZkWJc9 --- #Sustainability #OurForest #ResourceManagement #HasslacherNoricaTimber #FromWoodToWonders #DayOfForests 🐿️

Testing of Bitumen Stabilised Materials have revolutionised the thinking behind curing patterns and strength testing for granular materials. 💡 Do you think these methods can be beneficial when implementing them into our traditional tests that we've been adhering to for decades with other types of granular mixes? 🤔
Peeling back the layers of bitumen stabilisation, we uncover the core of sustainable pavement. With precision engineering and advanced materials, we transform aged roads into durable, eco-friendly paths. 🛣️ The secret lies in the mix: a calculated alchemy of reclaimed asphalt, recycled subsurface material, cement or lime, and bitumen, yielding a higher-performing and resilient roadway. Each granule tells a story of innovation – one where quality meets sustainability. 🔍 #Loudoninternational #SustainableRoads #BSM #WIRTGEN

The market revenue growth is primarily driven by factors such as the growing demand for sustainable infrastructure solutions, increasing urbanization, and rising awareness of water conservation. Pervious pavement is a porous concrete material that allows rainwater to permeate through the surface and infiltrate into the ground. It is a cost-effective and sustainable solution for stormwater management, as it reduces the runoff and pollution of rainwater into nearby water bodies. The increasing awareness of environmental sustainability and the need to address water scarcity issues are driving the demand for pervious pavement solutions.
