The African Union's (AU) Agenda 2063 is Africa’s blueprint and master plan for transforming the continent into a global powerhouse of the future. This strategic framework aims to deliver inclusive and sustainable development, reflecting the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress, and collective prosperity. In line with Agenda 2063, the 6th Pan-African Cultural Congress (PACC) will take place in Moroni, Union of Comoros, from September 25-27, 2024. This year's theme, "Arts, Culture, Heritage, and Education: Levers for Building 'THE AFRICA WE WANT'," will drive dynamic discussions and innovative strategies to transform our continent. Selam, through the Connect for Culture Africa (CfCA) - a joint effort between Selam and the AU - that seeks to empower Africa's Culture through sustainable public funding will participate in the conference, aiming to lobby African governments to allocate at least 1% of their national budgets to culture and creative industries by 2030. The Sustainable Development Goals Initiative Learning Excursion to Germany has provided me with new insights into how a country like South Africa can improve and fast track its implementation of the NDP Agenda 2030 . The highlight of my trip was the meeting with the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) and the German Council for Sustainable Development (RNE) , the future looks bright and thank you to GIZ , The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) , The SDGi- Evidence and Data for Policy partner : The Presidency , African Monitor , University of Prertorai and Stellenboch University . Investing on the acceleration of achieving SDG's by 2030 becomes even more important as South Africa continues to struggle with persistent inequalities, poverty and slow economic growth.

On 17th May, we had the second SDGs-AMP 2024 workshop. I really appreciated the quality time I Had with other changemakers. Dr. Keagetswe Alex from Nigeria gave us insightful knowledge about Agenda 2063. Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan to transforming Africa into a global powerhouse of the future. The genesis of Agenda 2063 was the realisation by African leaders that there was a need to refocus and reprioritise Africa’s agenda from the struggle against apartheid and the attainment of political independence for the continent which had been the focus of The Organisation of African Unity (OAU), the precursor of the African Union; and instead to prioritise inclusive social and economic development, continental and regional integration, democratic governance and peace and security amongst other issues aimed at repositioning Africa to becoming a dominant player in the global arena. One of my goals in this mentorship is to learn more about #SGD2zerohunger, to know the necessary strategies to improving the quality of life in my community. I expanded my knowledge significantly during my attendance of the second workshop of the Africa SDG's Mentorship Programme, thanks to the excellent presentation by #KeagetsweAlexKgotlaetsile on Agenda 2063. My key takeaways include: The African Union Agenda 2063 is a strategic framework for the socio-economic transformation of the continent over a 50-year period, from 2013 to 2063. It aims to accelerate the implementation of past and existing continental initiatives for growth and sustainable development. The agenda envisions an integrated, prosperous, and peaceful Africa, driven by its citizens and representing a dynamic force in the global arena. Key aspirations of Agenda 2063 include: A prosperous Africa based on inclusive growth and sustainable development. An integrated continent, politically united and inspired by Pan-Africanism and the vision of Africa’s Renaissance. An Africa of good governance, democracy, respect for human rights, justice, and the rule of law. A peaceful and secure Africa. An Africa with a strong cultural identity, common heritage, values, and ethics. An Africa where development is people-driven, unleashing the potential of women and youth. In New York, USA attending the United Nations Summit Of The Future where l gave remarks at the Civil Society Dialogue on the Pact of the Future happening on the sidelines of the UN Summit. This landmark dialogue was co-organized by TrustAfrica African Union ECOSOCC and other Pan African institutions. The meeting confirmed the urgent need to create an African ecosystem that enables Africa to reach its full potential. Africa must move from the socially constructed limitations and identities to a deliberate path of repivoting the political and economic global order. The principal ideation guiding the Re-imagination of Africa’s future should be premised on restructuring the global governance system. This entails, rethinking Africa’s composition and agenda in the UN, strengthening Continental and Regional Integration; and fundamentally developing functional governments that serve and change the lives of our people. The task at hand is demanding yet possible through collaborative, collective and meaningful contribution to the Future. AfricaArise!

Just returned from an enlightening experience at the Africa e-Governance Conference 2024! From March 12th to 14th, I had the privilege of joining visionary leaders and experts in exploring the transformative power of digital governance for social inclusion and sustainable development. The conference was a dynamic platform for fostering collaborative action and generating actionable recommendations. Together, we delved into how eGovernance can serve as the linchpin for aligning the Sustainable Development Goals with economic development, social progress, and environmental sustainability, all in harmony with Agenda 2063 'The Africa We Want.'
