At our most recent One City Culture Board meeting, hosted by Bricks Bristol at St Anne’s House, members were updated on the progress being made to deliver One City Goal 58 which aims to tackle gender, race, ethnicity and disability pay gaps through improved skills pathways, mentoring and enabling routes to access senior employment opportunities. The Board heard from Toby Howkins on the Good Employment Charter, a voluntary and free accreditation scheme, raising standards for teams and organisations in the West of England. The Charter aims to help employers provide a more rewarding, inclusive, and sustainable work environment for all their employees. Creating positive workplaces for employees not only boosts workforce morale, retention rates and wellbeing, it also leads to business growth and success, benefitting society and the wider economy. Offer: Learn more about the West of England Good Employment Charter below and see how your organisation can help set the standard for best practice in the region. Ask: Consider contacting the West of England Good Employment Charter team at charter@westofengland-ca.gov.uk to complete a Digital Action Plan and make a pledge relevant to your organisation. #BristolOneCity #OneCityAppraoch #GoodEmployers https://lnkd.in/eQjq8KtA

Pietential can’t stop workplace violence, but it can show when a person or group of people have an exceptionally low sense of belonging, which may translate to workplace toxicity, and even violence if left unchecked. But what I’m really interested in seeing is companies, school systems, and University systems adopting Pietential in order to benchmark wellbeing. That way, if an incident does occur, the organization knows when the affected community has fully recovered and is back to its baseline wellbeing. Only then can they expect student grades and workplace outcomes to return to their prior levels. #hrtech #wellbeing

Attended an insightful workshop today based on neurodiversity in the workplace as part as my CMI qualification from KnowledgeBrief One of the interesting questioned asked was: What reasonable adjustments can be made to support neurodiverse talent and allow everyone to be their best? What can we do to help those who are neurodivergent in a world built for neurotypical? How do we create a thriving environment? I’ll be researching more into this as part of an assignment but in the mean time, did everyone know businesses have access to grants from the government called Access to Work? These grants can help with practical support such as funding specialist equipment and physical changes to the work place. www.gov.uk/access-to-work

The City & Guilds Foundation, an organisation specialising in skills development, has published its 2024 Neurodiversity Index report. The report found that more organisations are focusing on neuroinclusion, with an increase in employers having neuroinclusion strategies and adapting their recruitment practices to accommodate neurodivergent applicants as compared to the previous year. However, it also found that 50% of individual respondents had been off work during 2023 due to neurodivergent-related challenges, with more than a third of neurodivergent workers not having received any guidance from their employer and a fifth claiming to still be waiting for promised adjustments to be made. The report also made various recommendations aimed at creating a neuroinclusive workplace. It's worth a look. So important to hear resilience being at the forefront of recruitment and retention. RiP explain resilience in such a important way "Resilience is sometimes misinterpreted as meaning an individual’s ability to cope, instead of looking at the features and conditions of the system in which people can thrive" Too many times the label that being resilient being workers who 'cope' with difficult complex and distressing situations. We need to change the narrative to supporting people by creating environments where people feel safe, supported so they can grow and develop.
'For younger social workers... it only takes two or three cases to go over a cliff … without the right support people just become isolated..' How do we strengthen our social work organisations? New Research in Practice resources explore effective recruitment, retention and resilience. https://lnkd.in/eBTSn_gr
