As an educator, I think it's critical we raise awareness about inequities that still exist in access to quality education. In 2023, a child's zip code should not determine the resources and opportunities available at their school. Organizations like Early Steps work specifically to promote equity by empowering parents of color to navigate the independent school admissions process. When Early Steps helps students gain acceptance at independent schools in NYC, it opens up an immense set of opportunities - not just academic rigor, but exposure to people, ideas, and experiences that inspire big dreams and pathways to achieve them. This kind of access should be available to all students, regardless of background. Consider learning more and sharing this resource with parents of color with young ones who are looking for educational opportunities.
When Early Steps helps a child of color in #NYC gain acceptance into an independent school, it opens a whole world of opportunity. Not only a rigorous academic environment, but exposure to people, ideas and experiences that inspire big dreams and create real paths to achieve them. This #GivingTuesday, let’s keep opening doors together: www.earlysteps.org/donate.

Improve education, improve the world! 🌎 In the USA, the attendance of high school students in public schools dropped by 3% during the 2020-21 academic year compared to 2019-20. E.R.E works with students who have been nominated because of their dedication to learn and determination to succeed. All they lack is equitable access to learning support. Are you shocked to learn that young people from disadvantaged backgrounds are 50% more likely to be out of education, employment, or training (NEET) upon leaving school than their peers? We are helping to tackle this head-on with our partnership with Action Tutoring. By donating £1.5 million over three years and encouraging our employees to volunteer as tutors, we are aiding their efforts to close the educational achievement gap. 📚🧮Find out more about our partnership here - https://lnkd.in/ex4Cru6S #insuranceindustry #volunteering

“The Awards came at the right time for us in so many ways. We remained open throughout the pandemic, with vulnerable young people coming into the centre every day when schools were closed. These sessions ensured we remained focused on the future as well as the very challenging circumstances we were operating in.” Eagle's Nest Project is a charity that works with young people aged 11-18 that are struggling to engage in mainstream education. It offers alternative education solutions that build confidence and self-esteem, re-igniting a belief that educational success can be achieved, and teaching them to better regulate their emotions to equip them for more positive engagement in education and society moving forwards. After winning the Weston Charity Awards in June 2020, it’s fair to say that Eagle’s Nest Project is in a different place and going from strength to strength. “Honoring the Past, Shaping the Future: Living by ‘Res Non Verba’ at FSU” “Res Non Verba”—Deeds, Not Words. This guiding principle from Fayetteville State University (FSU) has been a cornerstone for me since my time as a student, class of 1993. Supporting my alma mater is not just about honoring my roots; it’s about actively investing in our shared future. Whether it’s through mentorship, involvement, or giving back, it’s our actions that truly make a difference. Supporting your alma mater is more than just a donation, it’s about giving back to the institution that shaped your journey. Whether it’s mentoring students, participating in alumni events, or contributing resources, every effort helps build a stronger community and a next generation. It’s a way to honor the legacy that continues to shape future generations, ensuring that the value of our education continues to grow. Let’s uplift the places that laid our foundations and continue to pave the way for others. Let’s be about our educational business while ensuring that our deeds make a lasting impact. #FSUAlumni #ResNonVerba #BroncoPride #GiveBack #Education #GenerationalWealth #Legacy #HBCU #CollegeLife #Donate #AlmaMater #Universities #MasterMinds #Educators #Supporters #GoodDeeds #FayettevilleNC

Into The Weekend Trivia Six(6) of our girls in Grade 5 were asked the simple but revealing question "who is the most beautiful girl in the class?" Surprisingly unsurprisingly, 4 out of the 6 - representing almost 70% voted themselves. Isn't this telling of how self-confident our girls are? It is proven that "children with high self-esteem and confidence are more likely to be successful in school, social relationships and future careers. It helps them to stand up for themselves when necessary, take risks, learn from mistakes and develop resilience in the face of adversity". Enjoy your weekend. In a world where 244 million children and youth aged 6 to 18 remain out of school globally, significant work is ahead to rectify this injustice. For children living with disabilities in low and lower-middle-income countries, over 40% are out of school at primary age and 55% at the lower secondary level. The theme for this year's International Day of Education is learning for lasting peace and we couldn't agree more. Education plays such a huge role in peacemaking processes with friends, family, colleagues & even with the world at large. On this International Day of Education, let's create a world where education is a right, not a privilege.
