Our healthcare system is built for acute, intermittent care. We NOW know: #dementia just doesn’t fit that framework. Innovative, evidence-based programs, like UCSF’s Care Ecosystem, have shown collaborative, longitudinal care improves the quality of life for people with dementia and their caregivers. We’ve experienced it first hand at Rippl where every day we hear things like “you are a lifesaver” and “Rippl has changed our lives”. Why? Because we train our interdisciplinary team to be prepared to help patients and their caregivers through all stages of the disease. There is a better way - and we’re #donewaiting. #createarippl #ripplchangemakers #moregooddays #aboutdamntime #LIVINGwithDementia Learn more about the UCSF Care Ecosystem here: https://lnkd.in/gaKbrrE6

ER Physician Helping Dementia Family Caregivers Achieve Peace of Mind in Their Decisions | Educator, Speaker & Advocate | Let's Connect and Build a Positive Network
As an ER doctor, I’m worried about the future of our healthcare system. For so many reasons… One that plagues me is the fact that our population is aging AND Even in 2024, we don’t have a clear way to identify and communicate people’s overall goal of care prior to the need of the ER or the hospital. I’m online with the mission to make medical decisions easier for anyone speaking on behalf of someone living with dementia. Setting their overall goal of care is foundational. I want to give people practical examples (like this video clip) of why this is such a big deal. This clip is from a longer video where I give real world examples of healthcare decisions people struggle with. And how having a set goal of care ahead of time will make their life easier. If you’d like to watch the video (20ish minutes long) leave me a comment here and I’ll link it for you or will shoot it to you in a message. Tomorrow I’ll share the clip on how to think about coming to the hospital if the person’s goal of care is comfort. #DementiaDecisions #PhysicianEducator #DementiaCare #CaregiverTips
