Perhaps I inherited my hankering for #climatetech innovation and #hardtech scaling from my hometown state (#massachusetts). Massachusetts made a billion dollar investment that made the global leader in biotech. Now it’s looking to do it again… for #climate. “Since 2021, Massachusetts has closed the second-highest number of climatetech megadeals in the country. To step up leadership in climatetech, the region could revisit the lessons that helped New England become a biotech hub. This will likely require business, government and academia working together to move toward a sustainable, equitable and resilient future.” Read more about the lessons in the article below. Thank you to leaders like Elizabeth Turnbull Henry at ELM, start up hubs like Greentown Labs, and the start up successes like Sublime Systems, Form Energy, and so many others who are turning the Boston area and beyond into such a climate powerhouse.
ICYMI...Check out this Boston Business Journal article from Deloitte’s Kevin McGovern and Kate Hardin about how Massachusetts’ knack for #innovation – and proven #leadership in the biotech sector – shows it has great potential to become the world’s hub for #climatetech entrepreneurs and startups. "Nationally, #climatetech entrepreneurship is concentrated in just five states: California, Colorado, Massachusetts, New York and Texas. Though California tops the list, Massachusetts brings a strong array of attributes for climatetech leadership. They include the state’s renowned research universities, a highly educated workforce and, according to the recent economic development plan from the Healey-Driscoll administration, the most venture capital deployed in the climatetech sector per capita. Since 2021, Massachusetts has closed the second-highest number of climatetech megadeals in the country." #drivinginnovation #climatetechleadership #entrepreneurship
