Aria Hotels, a subsidiary of the Greek-born Libra Group, has announced a pioneering project to construct and operate four vertiports to support electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft in Greece. This groundbreaking initiative, with a €50 million investment, aims to enhance regional connectivity and promote ecotourism by strategically placing vertiports in Athens, the South mainland, and the Aegean islands. As part of this venture, Aria Hotels has become one of the first hospitality companies globally and the first in Greece to directly lease innovative eVTOL aircraft. In partnership with BETA TECHNOLOGIES and LCI, an aerospace subsidiary of Libra Group, Aria has leased 10 all-electric ALIA eVTOLs. These aircraft are net carbon-zero, can carry five passengers or 1,400 lbs of payload, and have a maximum range of 250 nautical miles with the ability to recharge in under an hour. The new vertiports will feature electric charging stations and customer relaxation areas, requiring minimal space and environmental impact compared to traditional aircraft infrastructure. This development is a significant step towards the future of urban air mobility, offering several key benefits: 1. Environmental Sustainability: eVTOLs produce zero emissions during flight, reducing air pollution and supporting global climate change efforts. 2. Reduced Noise Pollution: eVTOLs operate quietly, minimizing noise pollution in urban and rural areas. 3. Operational Efficiency: eVTOLs offer faster travel times by bypassing traditional traffic congestion. 4. Economic Impact: The development and operation of eVTOL infrastructure create jobs and stimulate economic growth. 5. Support for Local Communities: Increased accessibility and connectivity boost local economies and preserve cultural heritage. Makis Pantazatos, CEO of Aria Hotels, stated, "Enhancing connectivity and offering unique travel experiences will attract more visitors. Aria is proud to boost tourism and create jobs across Greece while promoting sustainability – our ethos as a Libra Group company." He added, "With this vital infrastructure, we are proud to make investments that allow Greece to benefit from new technologies supporting ecotourism." Manos Kouligkas, CEO of Libra Group, echoed this sentiment: "Libra Group has long had a presence in Greece, and we are committed to supporting its long-term growth through strategic investments. Through the innovative work of Aria Hotels, in partnership with LCI, we will support sustainable tourism and economic growth in Greece and the Greater Eastern Mediterranean region." World’s First Premium Tourism Electric Hydrofoil is Revealed by Vessev Vessev, a developer of sustainable marine technology, has unveiled its VS—9 electric hydrofoil, complete with cabin and interior, for the first time. The nine-meter VS—9 can transport 10 passengers at a service speed of 25 knots. Inside, the new cabin is inspired by private jet travel as well as premium automotive marques, such as Rivian. Production of the VS—9 is already underway. The first vessel will enter the commercial service of the largest ferry operator in New Zealand – Fullers360. The VS—9 was designed and built by Vessev with input from Fullers360 and its decarbonisation team NetZero Maritime. Vessev’s lead designer, Alain Brideson, comments: “Our objective for the VS—9 was to create something that is beautifully utilitarian. Using the tools of the premium automotive segment, every surface of the VS—9 has been carefully crafted to emanate quality. The entire exterior harmoniously embeds functionality into a clean and balanced form. Airlander 10 to embark on unique Arctic expeditions The development of #sustainable alternative #vehicles is not only essential to #reduceemissions but also to enhance the passenger experience. It’s exciting to envision a future where pilotless electric aircraft, hydrogen-electric ferries, and solar-powered catamarans are the norm. The Airlander 10 can offer a unique and sustainable option for immersive expeditions to remote destinations. Developed by Hybrid Air Vehicles Ltd, the #aircraft could become an air-based counterpart to these small, green ships that many cruise operators are adopting for boutique experiences. The UK-based company has entered into an aircraft reservation agreement with Grands Espaces, a French eco-tourism company. Grands Espaces plans to use the Airlander 10 aircraft to embark on unique expeditions in less-explored regions of the world, including within the Arctic region. This announcement is another step forward in Airlander 10’s entry into the service program, growing an order book already in excess of £1bn and building momentum towards the start of production this year. The collaboration brings together Hybrid Air Vehicles’ Airlander 10, the world’s most efficient large aircraft, with Grands Espaces’ sustainably minded and pioneering vision of tourism. The reservation will enable the expansion of tourism into new and less-explored regions with ultra-low emissions aircraft. With its unique ability to take off and land from any reasonably flat surface, including water and ice, the Airlander offers a great opportunity to expand Grands Espaces’ services and offer improved access to areas that cannot be easily reached by conventional aircraft or boat. This will undoubtedly provide a unique and unforgettable experience for guests while keeping the environmental impact low. Grands Espaces is offering exclusive trips to their customers, including visits to stunning natural sites, providing customers with truly immersive and intimate experiences. They are prioritizing low-impact trips and connecting with local communities. With production set to begin this year, Grands Espaces will be able to offer customers new Airlander 10 experiences from 2028. “Airlander is an aircraft that brings great possibilities to the world of travel and tourism, offering more services and new experiences without the negative effects legacy aircraft have on the planet,” said George Land, Executive Director of Sales, Hybrid Air Vehicles. “This agreement with Grands Espaces is so important to us because of our shared values of sustainable growth and responsibility and respect for the environment. Through this reservation agreement, Hybrid Air Vehicles and Grands Espaces are rethinking what is possible for a low-impact, #lowcarbontourism industry.” From Inceptive Mind
