The CEO of our district energy companies, Robert Kitt, shared his insights on the crucial role of renewable energy in driving Estonia's economic growth, attracting investments, and creating new jobs and added value. ♻ "We need to invest our way out of the recession. New investments create jobs and generate added value," he emphasized. Kitt also addressed the environmental challenges Estonia faces: "For Sweden, with emissions approximately 100 times lower, and Finland, with emissions 10 times lower, Estonian products are perceived as too environmentally harmful, which serves as a factor against doing business with us." Additionally, he underscored the importance of cross-sector collaboration in the energy industry, noting that integrated solutions across different energy sectors will make our system more efficient, flexible, and reliable, enabling a smoother transition to a low-carbon economy. 💡 Today's Eesti Päevaleht has thoroughly analyzed how prepared we are in Estonia for the transition to renewable energy and what are the different scenarios. Sunly is working towards covering as wide a spectrum as possible from energy production to ensuring consumption. Among other things, we see that in Estonia, we need to consider the electrification of existing heating sources. Peeter Raudsik, Sunly's Head of Regulatory Affairs, believes that the current price of district heating will decrease for consumers in the future through electrification and help reduce the sector's carbon emissions. "Using heat pumps, in turn, reduces heat losses related to district heating, which in older grids can be up to 30%," Raudsik adds. Read more (in Estonian) ⬇

🌞 Shining Light on Solar Energy in Estonia: Debunking Myths 🌞 Smartecon's CEO, Magno Kure, highlights the remarkable growth and potential of solar energy in Estonia, challenging outdated perceptions. 📈 Rapid Growth: From a modest 169 MWh in 2016 to an impressive 54,000 MWh in 2023, solarenergy production in Estonia has skyrocketed, firmly establishing #solarpower as a key energy source. ☀️ Climate Compatibility: Despite myths, Estonia's over 2000 hours of sunshine annually make it an ideal location for #solarenergy, debunking doubts about its viability in our climate. 💡 Market Maturity: The solar sector has evolved beyond the need for subsidies, with the market's growth driven by efficiency and innovation, not financial incentives. 🌾 Agricultural Harmony: Far from displacing farmland, solar parks in Estonia utilize unused agricultural land, promoting biodiversity and community benefits. 🤝 Community Support: A Smartecon survey reveals that 95% of Estonians would welcome solar parks nearby under certain conditions, indicating broad community acceptance. #Solarenergy in Estonia is not just a green alternative but a thriving, essential part of our energy landscape. #smartecon #solarenergy #estonia #renewableenergy #greenfuture https://lnkd.in/dmj8mWci

Step by step to carbon neutral economy. I hold my fingers crossed to witness the success of European Energy - Lietuva in this break through project for the whole region.

🤝 A goodwill cooperation agreement was signed between the City of Pärnu, Enefit Green, and Sunly, which will help contribute to the local community's well-being once the Põlendmaa wind farm is up and running. The agreement confirms that the parties will work closely together on building the Põlendmaa wind farm, focusing on improving local life and that possible obstacles will be resolved in a positive manner. Priit Lepasepp, co-founder and CEO of Sunly, emphasized that working closely with communities from the start is a key part of Sunly's approach. He said, "Building the wind farm in this area will benefit local people by lowering electricity costs and creating new roads that make everyday life easier. On a larger scale, the Põlendmaa wind farm is an important step toward Estonia producing all its electricity from renewable sources by 2030." Read more (in Estonian) ⬇ https://lnkd.in/gVR9ZhFA

💡 Had a chance to give an overview of the Estonian district heating sector's current challenges and opportunities: 🙌 The impacts of the energy crises that started with the Russian invasion to Ukraine have started to stabilize; 📉 District heating prices are dropping significantly compared to last years thanks to lower fuel prices; 🌍 Sustainability is in the focus for district heating systems - high share of renewables is already present and more to come in the next years. Many thanks to all my colleagues at Adven – The leading partner in the energy transition for overcoming the crises together! It has not been an easy time but future opportunities lie ahead! #districtheating #energyprices #sustainability #renewableenergy #energytransition #ProudToBeAdven
Adven – The leading partner in the energy transition Baltikumi juht Juhan Aguraiuja kinnitab, et umbes poolteist aastat tuli igapäevaselt nende kriisiilmingutega tegeleda. Kriisist väljumise hetkeks loevad kaugkütjad tema sõnul käesoleva aasta kevadet, mil olukord kõigil tandritel hakkas stabiliseeruma, nii et käimasolevale kütteperioodile saadi vastu minna juba suhteliselt tavapärastes tingimustes ja erilisest pingest vabade ootustega. https://lnkd.in/d5sCgNaY

Evecon's Development Manager, Karl-Joonatan Kvell, dismisses concerns raised by the National Audit Office regarding Estonia's potential challenges in meeting its renewable energy goals by 2030. In reality, the situation is quite the opposite – onshore wind farms are expected to be completed in the coming years, providing not only sufficient but even surplus production capacities. Renewable energy production is not only associated with reducing the environmental impact of businesses and achieving climate goals. In a situation where the price of electricity rises by an average of about 5% annually regardless of the region (Eurostat), a personal power station becomes increasingly beneficial when looking ahead in time. Estonia now has a new government! 🇪🇪 Coalition agreement focuses a lot on the development of renewable energy in Estonia. The agreement includes also: The creation of an instrument to facilitate the conclusion of direct electricity purchase agreements between large energy consumers and energy producers. 💡 Our CEO Mihkel Loorits raised the issue in the media at the end of last year. The solution could be moving renewables to a stand-alone market-based platform. "The market-based conversion of renewable energy could take place in such a way that the system operator provides a transparent price-fixing platform based on data collected from market participants, where the price is fixed between producers and consumers," said Mihkel Loorits. Would bring six major advantages over the current system: a favourable and stable price for consumers ✅ the disappearance of the renewables fee ✅ transparency ✅ certainty for producers to make long-term investments ✅ faster development of renewables in general ✅ Read more about the solution at the link below ⬇ #estonia #sustainablefuture
