Hey, Chris, thanks for taking a few minutes to join me today. And congratulations on 35 years with Volaris. Yeah, no problem. Fred, nice to see you again. Yeah, that's, that's quite a stretch. 35 years, it adds up quick, huh? Yeah, it's gone. Buying a heartbeat, to be honest and remember my first day stepping on a rig all those years ago like it was yesterday. What was that first day like? What rig was that? Fish rig was the gorilla two. And what was your job? What was your first job on the rig? First job on the rig was ready well. And over your over your time here, what other what what, what other jobs did you take? Would you progress through as you worked? Yeah, well, I'm, I moved back. I moved on Shaw. I've been about half and half now so half my time has been offshore and half my time has been onshore. So I moved into the Aberdeen office seeing. April 2006 and then moved to Houston by 11 years ago. So yeah, I've done a few jobs. I was radio most of the time offshore. I used to help out, you know the bad supervisor materials man, I've been down reloads and what not helping out there. Helping out crying OPS where I could all good experiences. There's, you know, obviously some bad and others, but all all good experiences and made a lot of lot of friends over the years. Yeah, no doubt. Is there one of those, one of those memories that you'd wanna share? Yes. Well, offshore the gorilla 7 many years ago was a, we, we put a production unit. On the, on the the main deck, so that was quite a big project. So we were, we were drilling and producing and then pumping the the product to to to one of two tankers. That was quite a big project onshore, several onshore, you know AOC for the Gorilla 6 original entry into Norway. Going to Singapore for the Shire rigs. The ankles ridges there are now getting an ISO 9001 certification in the UK. DOC department document of compliance for the for the drill ships at Rowan. All all pretty big projects and combining the management systems. When we integrated a few years ago, so several big projects onshore. Yeah, yeah. There's, there's never been a dull moment onshore, that's certain. And, and who are some of the the folks you've worked with, some of the either managers or just some of your colleagues you worked with over the years that have made a real impression on you? Some of some of the colleagues you know, were offshore, you know, some of the OEM's I've worked with. You know, people like it. David Truitt's one of my original OEM, so he he made a lasting impression on me. John O'dwyer, when I was a radio and Ensco, he made a pretty big impression on me. You know, pick people like Fast Myth who retired a few years ago. Huge impression. So I try and I try and. Follow their leadership style. Lock locked on them as as meant as if you like. Yeah, fantastic. Well, and in that regard, if you were sitting across the table from somebody just hiring on or thinking of hiring on how, what would you tell them to make their time here success? I would say listen to what your supervisors telling you. Ask questions if you're not sure. And if you're really not sure and you're in the middle of a test, then don't be afraid just to stop. Stop the job and ask a question whether you're onshore or offshore. Great advice and look forward to more years to come. Yeah, well, hope so, Fred. Thanks. Yeah.

Superyacht LEADER Network - Webinar Summary
For those who are interested, here is a summary of last week's informative Superyacht LEADER Network on the topic of Onboard Conflict - A Command Perspective.
· Wide-ranging discussions explored the diverse reasons for onboard conflict with poor communication, actual or perceived unfairness, and power dynamics coming to the fore as key trigger points. A lack of self-awareness was also identified as an important factor, with the use of psychometric assessment and coaching recommended as an effective countermeasure. It was highlighted that instilling an inclusive culture onboard to build trust and openness, alongside breaking down departmental barriers, will help reduce conflict.
· It was agreed that leaders who know their people are always better placed to prevent and deal with any conflict. The command should coach and encourage the crew to be tolerant of other’s perspectives, even if they don’t always agree with them. Should conflict occur, it was agreed that it should be dealt with at the lowest level, with the HODs being trained and empowered to take the lead in resolving it. It was also felt that captains should refrain from getting involved unless necessary, as if a Captain is unable to resolve conflict the matter will have to be taken externally off the yacht.
· Finally, it was highlighted that conflict can be extremely stressful and that people will be impacted differently. Ultimately, it is the command’s responsibility to ensure there is a fair process in place for resolving conflict and that everyone involved feels supported.
