Part of starting a new year is reflecting on what I need to learn next. Intercultural intelligence is an ongoing journey when, like me, you work with people from all over the world. Last year I did a deep dive into German/NZ cross-cultural insights in a fascinating workshop facilitated by Monique Surges and Erin Daly from the German-New Zealand Chamber of Commerce Inc. (GNZCC). I gained so much insight into how Germans see Kiwis and the way we operate in Aotearoa. In particular, I have new respect for how much preparation and planning our German clients are likely to have put in to understanding and making allowances for us in the many ways that our cultures differ. I'm keen to explore other cultures in depth in 2024 - does my network have recommendations of similar workshops perhaps run by other Chambers of Commerce or national organisations? Shireen Chua. [Business France Middle East and CCI France UAE: brainstorming session and seeking new synergies] CCI France UAE and Business France Middle East teams met last Friday for a working session aimed at preparing the planning of our common actions for 2025, further coordinating our initiatives, and seeking synergies. This interactive session helped us find ways to improve how we work together and plan joint activities. These efforts will allow us to have a more focused approach by sector, better promote the VIE program in the UAE, and organize joint events to showcase French expertise to local authorities and highlight investment opportunities in France.
