Effective recruitment begins with well-trained agents. Yet, our latest survey reveals that universities take varied approaches when it comes to agent training and support: 🟠 46% of universities provide ad-hoc training sessions, leaving room for inconsistency. 🟠 31% offer regular, structured training, ensuring agents are consistently aligned with institutional goals. 🟠 23% rely on webinars and online courses, providing flexible learning but potentially lacking depth. Surprisingly, none of the surveyed universities currently use external training providers, highlighting a significant opportunity to enhance agent support through specialised solutions. As agents continue to play a pivotal role in international student recruitment, investing in consistent and comprehensive training is more important than ever. This is just one of many insights from our upcoming “Unity in Education: A Survey Report on University-Agent Partnerships in the UK”. The Canadians are doing it, the Irish are doing it and the Australians are not - why? Overseas many countries are stepping up and investing in RPL practices and processes to assist people who have skills and knowledge to access a more equitable and candidate centred RPL, across VET and HE (yes I said HE). It is about time we stepped up to the plate. The latest webinars from Canadian Association of Prior Learning Assessment are on engaging Universities to have buy in for RPL, as well as Industry and also governments. Australia’s Skills Ministers have identified the opportunity to improve Australia’s qualifications system, establishing the Qualification Reform Design Group to investigate the development of a program of Qualification Reform. Jobs and Skills Councils (JSCs) have been asked to ‘be a co-designer and co-owner of reform as well as the main driver of implementation’. Skills Insight welcomes the opportunity to undertake two projects to trial the design group’s proposed purpose-led approach to qualification reform: ➡️ A categorisation project to test the approach. This work will be performed by each JSC on a selection of existing qualifications within the industries they support. Each JSC will produce a report with insights and advice for the Design Group’s consideration. ➡️ A demonstration project to show how qualification reform could be achieved, being undertaken by some JSCs, including Skills Insight. The Skills Insight project will involve development of a template for a purpose 3 qualification, which will be tested using the existing Certificate II in Rural Operations. While this work is happening, the existing Rural Operations Training Package Project will be paused, so that the qualification can be reviewed efficiently. https://lnkd.in/gbKaB7Vj

"A common language agreement fosters a unified understanding among young people, educational institutions, and employers." 🙌🏻 Fantastic work from The Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub, Lancashire Careers Hub and the Lancashire Skills Improvement Plan to create Work Ready Lancashire: Shared Common Language. Gathering feedback from Lancashire employers on the top ten work ready skills and aligning this to the shared approach and common language of the Skills Builder Partnership Universal Framework, the booklet supports the young people of Lancashire to effectively transition from education into the world of work. An excellent model of a joined-up approach to essential skill development. https://lnkd.in/eEH_iyaR
