**Update:** We are Good to go on aircraft for immediate support and no longer require direct assistance for our team regarding the requests we've received. We now have several assets available, ranging from R66 to CH47 helicopters, fixed wing assets equipped with sensors and drones, ready to assist in any capacity. If anyone has a direct contact at FEMA who is leading the recovery efforts, please DM me their contact information so I can help facilitate communication. Thank you all for your continued support! **URGENT** I am reaching out to my network for assistance. If anyone has access to helicopters that can support rescue efforts for a family trapped in the mountains of Banner Elk and surrounding areas, please contact me. They are running low on supplies and have small children with them, making their situation increasingly urgent. The area can only be accessed by air, and while I know other agencies are working hard to provide assistance, this family remains in need. They have identified a landing zone, and I can facilitate communication of that information as necessary. Thank you for any help you can provide. ***Update- we are good on MREs for now! Still need the helicopter! I have a DZ/LZ brief available. Location is the Medevac LZ in Beech Mountain resort. There’s an aircraft inbound with comms equipment for the Fire Chief on site who’s the main POC for all rescue coordinations on grounds. I’ll pass number/Frequencies as soon as those become available.

UPDATE: Rescue ops are now underway via a combination of private and gov resources! 💪 We need Americans to unite. The southeast portion of the United States has experienced historical flooding, dam failures, and more after #Hurricane #Helene. As of yesterday morning, this was the 3rd or 4th "Cry for help" I've seen on social media essentially having to BEG for help due to comms being taken out by the flooding and storms. THEY CAN'T EVEN CALL FOR HELP! I am keeping tabs on the aviation radars but as of ~9AM CST, There are 0 visible North Carolina National Guard or South Carolina National Guard birds in the air or en route to assist in the natural disaster that's occurring there. Albiet I did see 1 Tennesee Army National Guard near the state line yesterday. Therefore, the private sector is picking up the slack this time. We need choppers and/or hovercraft. We need Airdrops. Who can help? Lockheed Martin, Any spare craft or birds? BAE Systems how about you? Boeing or Airbus, do you guys have anything? NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration - I know you guys have resources in this area - Can we allocate a few here? This is NOT just a post, this is a serious call to action. A call for HELP. WHO CAN HELP!? We need to help our friends and family in the southeast.

Approaching and landing on raised Helipads or platforms can be very deceptive regardless of how many times you’ve done it. It’s always important to set up correctly from the start to avoid excessive manoeuvres late in the approach. #pilottraining #pilot #aviation #hems #helicopters #aviationsafety #aviationindustry

Artist, painter, thinker, tinkerer, entrepreneur, business owner, researcher, gardener, art collector, multi-interest hobbyist, history buff, culture enthusiast, and adventure-seeker.
Build the hospital helipad there. Are you sure? You look at videos of air ambulance helicopters struggling to land on the helipad in very high winds, especially in Autumn and Winter, and you don't want a strong gush push the helicopter straight into the hospital building, catastrophe, and you are on the news on TV and radio. You think of everything, every alternative and option. Too dangerous today. Have the ambulance drive to the nearest assigned landing site and meet the helicopter there as it lands. You also can think about building a stand alone ER building that the hospital owns near to a nearby airport. Hospital Command and Control will direct the air ambulance to take the patient to that facility, and hospital ER personnel will be rushed to that facility. Think of everything, every possible scenario and situation.

Disaster on the Road Pt. 7 As aviators, we strive for the perfect flight every time. However, an argument could be made that such a thing does not exist, yet pushing for excellence each time we go up provides one of the essential underpinnings of an impeccable industry safety record. Yet incidents and accidents still occur. In this month’s article on when disaster strikes (in this case an incident or accident), we provide some guidance on what to do when the holes in the Swiss cheese line up and you fall through. https://lnkd.in/gUHxXEb5

🚁 Helicopter Ops on Cruise Ships: Medical Evacuations🚢 As a navigation officer, helicopter evacuations on a cruise ship for medical emergencies are a delicate operation to carry out professionally and seriously. 🚢 ✅ Precautions to Take: ⚓ Assessing the Situation: Before deciding on an evacuation, we carefully assess the severity of the medical situation and the weather conditions. ⚓ Effective Communication: Clear communication with onboard medical staff, helicopter personnel, and the emergency coordination center is essential to ensure optimal coordination. ⚓ Maneuver Planning: We carefully plan approach and lift-off maneuvers for the helicopter to ensure the safety of everyone onboard and the helicopter crew. ⚓ Establishing a Safe Zone: We create a safe zone on the deck for helicopter landing and takeoff, ensuring there are no obstacles and adequate lighting. ⚓ Patient Assistance: Before evacuation, we provide the best possible medical support to the patient, including safe transfer onto a stretcher. ⚓ Safety Procedures: Everyone onboard must strictly follow crew instructions to ensure safety during the operation. ⚓ Safety Equipment: We ensure the helicopter crew is properly equipped, and the patient is securely fastened for transport. ⚓ Crew Training: We keep crew trained and prepared to effectively handle emergency situations like this. Helicopter evacuations are rare, but our priority is always the safety and well-being of everyone onboard. 🚁⚓ #ResponsibleNavigation #SafetyAtSea #MedicalEmergencies #HelicopterEvacuation #SafeCruising

Great to hear (officially) that this gap is being addressed. ..with more in the works to address issues faced especially over the last few years- which only shows the demand on resources and ability to be agile. The BC Wildfire Service says it's upgrading its aviation fleet and working to secure more lease agreements and contracts for planes and helicopters — including heavy helicopters with night-vision capability — ahead of this year’s fire season. https://lnkd.in/gEHXbVMn
