Empowering veterans to attain the rating and compensation they deserve. | USAF (Retired) | Veteran Coach @just4veterans
Did you know that veterans are much more likely to suffer from PTSD than people who haven't served in the military? While about 7 to 8 out of every 100 people may experience PTSD, veterans are four times as likely to have it. If you're struggling with PTSD because of your experiences in combat, you're not alone. There are VA programs that can help you get healthcare, compensation, and treatment. To prove your PTSD, you'll need to show: ✅ You were diagnosed with PTSD because of things that happened during your service. ✅ Those things happened while you were in combat. ✅ They happened while you were a Prisoner of War. ✅ Or you faced fears of attacks as a drone crew member. If you served in combat, just your own statement on a form called VA Form 21-0781 is usually enough to prove what happened. Want to understand more and get help with your PTSD claim? Book a consultation through my Calendly link: https://buff.ly/4aYjMnH You're not alone, and there's support out there for you. 💪 #PTSD #mentalhealth #military

Veterans are at a much higher risk of developing PTSD than those who didn’t serve in the military. It’s estimated that veterans are four times more likely to develop PTSD than non-veterans. Over 1 million veterans have a VA disability rating for PTSD. If you’re dealing with PTSD as a result of your combat experiences, you aren’t alone! You could be eligible for VA health care, compensation, and treatment for PTSD. To prove combat PTSD, your statement would be enough to establish a service connection for the stressor if you meet certain requirements. 1. You were diagnosed with PTSD as a result of events that occurred during your service. 2. The stressor occurred while you were in combat 3. The stressor happened while you were a Prisoner of War, or 4. You faced fears of hostile military or terrorist attack as a drone crew member (added in 2010). If you were involved in combat, your statement on VA Form 21-0781 is usually sufficient evidence to prove service connection to the traumatic event causing PTSD. If you are a veteran with any other discharge than “Honorable” - You should know that it’s not impossible to get a discharge upgrade. Especially for Veterans with mental health issues, PTSD, Military Sexual Trauma, TBI, or those released due to the Don’t ask don’t tell policy. Just because you don’t have an honorable discharge also doesn’t mean you aren’t entitled to benefits. SIDE NOTE: If you have a period of service that you received an honorable discharge (such as reenlistment) you are eligible for benefits. If you are interested in learning more about how to begin the process of upgrading your discharge, reach out to your local VSO (you can find their information here) https://lnkd.in/eB28rUuz https://lnkd.in/eFhdHZp7 If you have someone you know that might find this information useful, save this video, tag them in it, or share it with them and let’s work together to make sure our veterans are getting the benefits they’ve earned. #Veterans #VeteranDischarge #VeteranBenefits #TransitioningVeterans #Combat #Military #mindfulness #meditation #getthatupgrade

Did you know? 🤔 PTSD isn't the only mental health issue that affects active military service members and veterans. In fact, a recent study conducted from 2017 to 2021 revealed a concerning rise in eating disorders among active U.S. military service members. The results of this study showed that the rate of new cases per 10,000 individuals per year increased from 2.8 to 5.0 over a span of 5 years. In other words, the number of cases each year more than doubled by the end of the 5-year period. Prevention through education and awareness is key to slowing the rising cases of eating disorders everywhere, and especially in our military service members ❤️🤍💙 #mentalhealthmonth #mentalhealthawarenessmonth #mentalhealthawareness #veterans #veteranmentalhealth #eatingdisorderawareness

Military service can expose individuals to unique traumas, increasing the risk of PTSD. 🤯 From combat to training accidents and military sexual trauma, these experiences leave a lasting impact, especially among Veterans—where 7 out of every 100 will experience PTSD, a rate slightly higher than in civilians. Female Veterans are particularly vulnerable. If you have expertise in Veteran PTSD, we invite you to apply to become a course contributor. Help us raise awareness and improve care for those who served. Join our mission at Inclusive Healers.
