"We have to share this with the world."-Marcus Capone Early this month, our co-founders, Marcus Capone and Amber Capone, had the honor of attending the premiere of In Waves and War at the Telluride Film Festival. This deeply moving film follows three Navy SEALs—Marcus Capone, DJ Shipley, and Matty Roberts—who grapple with the lasting invisible scars of war after their tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Fearing for Marcus’ life, his wife Amber found hope in a revolutionary therapy, combining two powerful psychedelic modalities, yet unapproved in the U.S. for medical use, but with immense potential for healing. After Marcus experienced a life-changing breakthrough through psychedelic-assisted therapy, the couple felt a strong calling to extend this lifeline to other veterans and their families. This grassroots mission ultimately became VETS, with a singular purpose: to END veteran suicide. Initially, when the idea of bringing their story to the big screen was proposed, Marcus, Amber, DJ, Patsy, and Matty were hesitant. But they understood that sharing their journey could offer hope and healing to countless others. After five years of filming and production with award-winning Directors Jon Shenk and Bonni Cohen—through hard work, determination, and a few outright miracles—In Waves and War premiered to a double standing ovation. The response at Telluride was nothing short of humbling. The overwhelming support for the journey and mission of VETS left us in awe. We owe our deepest gratitude to the entire In Waves and War team for their unwavering belief in this story and its power. The film is presented by Participant, in association with Chicago Media Project and Mycoskie Enterprises, and produced by Actual Films. It is our sincere hope that this film will shine a light on the healing potential of psychedelic-assisted therapies, helping veterans and their families find a path to peace. Ultimately, our vision is clear: a future where veterans can access the most advanced healthcare options available. At VETS, we are committed to making this vision a reality, whatever it takes. 4dIt’s really difficult when you see and speak to Vets who you know are suffering, but they don’t recognize that they are. The signs seem to always be the same and there are a lot that think PTSD is not a real thing, but a symptom of an emotionally weak person. It’s hard hearing them say that knowing that is not the truth. I would love to see this film. Thank you for sharing the information.
