Saturday morning reflections after a busy week at work coming back from vacations: -Taking time off is a MUST. Employees should be required to make use of their vacation days every year. It allows you to give your mind some space to think things thru and have additional perspective. It allows you to recharge. - Difficult conversations should not be avoided nor postponed, especially if you are leader. Did you know that we have a global no meeting day every month at Haleon? I try to honour these days as much as possible, keeping my diary free. Today it meant I didn’t have to rush the school drop-off (always a bonus) and I decided to take the opportunity to have a change of scenery, working for a few hours from a new coffee shop down the road. So far I've carved out 1hr to catch-up on some EB industry reading and articles I have been saving, and 1hr of focussed L&D time, which is helping to spark an idea or two 😊. Now, as my global no meeting day is well underway in Singapore. I would like to hear how Ellein Mreich has spent her day in Australia, how Tarush Gupta in India typically spends his no meeting days as well as Jason Walker and Kristine Smagris in the Americas. And how Rhian Kiernan, Natasha Scheiblecker and Ruby Kiruba, MSci plan to start their day in the UK. Last week we held our monthly all-hands meeting. As always, we took the time to welcome new teammates and celebrate our colleagues’ birthdays (Diane May T. went swimming with turtles at a marine conservatory on her big day! 🐢) We also took some time to practice what we preach so often here on social media: we launched an internal experiment to help us design better products and features. 👩🏼🔬 Like any organization, each of us spends most of our working hours with colleagues in our own area. We want to ensure that our organization does not become siloed and that we are constantly learning from each other’s points of view. 🤔 So we divided into four cross-functional teams with representatives from each area within the company. For this first experiment, we will spend the next few weeks brainstorming ideas for making our products more lovable. 💖 We are excited about this transition in our way of thinking about how to achieve our collective goals and overcome challenges because we are running an experiment at two levels: 🙌🏼 Do these cross-functional teams help us collaborate better internally? 😍 Do new features help us create products that are of the highest value to our customers?
