🔭 In the wake of the organizations we met that inspire us, discover now the 2 next one! . . . We had the chance to meet: Lionel Defraigne from SINGA Bruxelles that creates spaces for connections to be made between newcomers and local people already settled in Brussels. These interactions can take the shape of group meetups, one-on-one pairings, or even hosting. We foster opportunities for newcomers and promote an enriched, diverse society where everyone has a place to live to their full potential. 💪 A few numbers since 2017: 900 Buddy pairs connected, 150 AdminBuddy pairs connected, 150 cohabitations set up, 2000 organised activities! and Michel Dereau from Natura Loci specialized in the flowering of large spaces: Cities & Communes, large properties, agricultural fallows, forestry areas, etc… 🐝 Did you know that in Wallonia, among a total of 347 known species of bees and bumblebees, more than half are rare, in very strong decline, or even completely disappeared from the country 😱 👏 Kudos to both organizations and thanks to the speakers for sharing your knowledge and sensibilizing us. #affordablehousing #partnerships #inspiration

Does anyone really appreciate a full day or week event with PowerPoint presentations followed by questions and answers? I certainly don't. But I do love this post from Maria Fernanda Arraes. She shares how she used #liberatingstructures to create an event that brought people, and their ideas around complex topics together in a fun and relaxing way. This created an environment for collaboration, relationship building, and innovative solutions. You can build trust and weave a thread that takes these relationships, solutions, and creativity far beyond the event, simply by engaging the collective intelligence in the room. So the next time you think everything should be presented in a PowerPoint slide to be effective, think again, and try something fun engaging instead. #liberatingstructures #bettermeetings #collaboration #engagement #collectiveintelligence #solutions
😄How much fun do you have when you are working? Every group process that I had the opportunity to host in the last months have really appreciated the experience of serious play during the workshops. 🙄Nobody appreciates a full day or week event with power points presentations followed by questions and answers. When we invite a team and partners to join us for a dialogue, no matter if it’s for an hour or a week, we start designing it having a clear invitation in mind based on the answers we got when asking ourselves what can we offer to them and what we would like to get from them. It’s always an exchange. Focusing on these expected results, we define a flow that can help all participants to feel comfortable, welcome and happy. Yes! Why not? Seriously play - we work hard but making sure we have fun! 💡Once again, I confirmed the MAGIC and POWER of #LiberatingStructures, #ArtofHosting and #VisualThinking, which made the #learning and #knowledgesharing process both enjoyable and effective. It encourages creativity and open-mindedness, allowing participants to explore complex topics in a relaxed environment. By engaging in playful activities, participants felt empowered to share their insights and experiences, breaking down barriers and fostering trust. Thank you to each one of you who was with me this past week! I am so grateful for the opportunity to facilitate the #BIOPAMA legacy workshop for a remarkable group of around 50 participants from 14 Caribbean islands, all dedicated to protected areas and biodiversity conservation. 📍One week in Saint Luci 🇱🇨 This event was not just a project closing workshop; it was a vibrant celebration of your collective achievements. Participants engaged deeply, sharing lessons learned and best practices in a collaborative atmosphere. As we approach the project’s closure in December 2024, our goal is to keep this vibrant network of professionals alive, fostering ongoing collaboration and support in biodiversity conservation across the Caribbean. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this transformative experience! Special thanks to Hyacinth Armstrong-Vaughn and #IUCN team for the long term partnership! Visiting the Iberian Highlands project this week, funded by the Endangered Landscapes & Seascapes Programme, implemented by Fundación Española de Renaturalización - Rewilding Spain. Decades of rural depopulation have created a complex of interlinked social, economic and environmental problems. It has been inspiring to see and hear how Rewilding Spain are demonstrating and delivering solutions: · How to revive the local economy and support resilient communities? Support local entrepreneurs to build a nature based economy. · How to gain confidence and trust of people living in the landscape? Have your staff live locally, work with municipalities, show results. · How to restore globally threatened biodiversity? Reintroduce keystone species that shape natural ecosystems. · How to reduce the risk to forests, villages and livelihoods from wild fire? Introduce extensive natural grazing. Some good practice & principles relevant to restoration of many European landscapes.

🦅Find out more about the Iberian Highlands restoration project, led by Fundación Española de Renaturalización - Rewilding Spain and supported by the Endangered Landscapes & Seascapes Programme. The Iberian Highlands host a wide variety of ecosystems including forest, grassland, and rocky canyons. Land abandonment due to rural-urban migration has led to economic stagnation but also provides opportunity to restore nature at a large scale. The project is reintroducing native fauna as well as removing dams and weirs to restore ecological processes and kickstart natural regeneration. Restored areas will provide new generations of people opportunities to return to the Iberian Highlands as entrepreneurs, developing nature-based businesses that will breathe new life into the local economy. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gWmmC6ME

Design and enterprise support for sustainable communities 💚 Co-design and placemaking 🤲 Green Map maker ✍️ Design training 💡
🚆🛳️ 🌊🐳🦀🐚 Fancy a day trip (or longer) to Dunoon? If you do, then you might be interested in this. For the next few weeks there is an exhibition along the shore at West Bay called West Bay Wonder. It explores the themes of heritage, biodiversity, inclusion and climate change within the context of this beautiful seaside town. The exhibition has been designed by me for Dunoon Community Development Trust. It features the work of multiple local creatives and people who have contributed their time to inform research and contribute ideas about how this stunning stretch of shingle beach could be developed, managed and used to support the sustainable regeneration of the town. There are playful prototypes made from simple materials that adapt existing elements of the built environment and lots of information about the history of the shore and the natural environment including the tricky issue of water quality. DM for a more info, but do come and see it and let me know what you think. #DesignResearch #LocalPlacePlan #CollaborativePractice

👇Read here the summary of yesterday's talk, probably you can translate it to English! ✌️It was a success and everyone was positive about having more data-based talks in the island, to quantify what everyone feels and senses — 🌎☔💙 🙏 Thankful to have met a bunch of islanders environmentally engaged and biologist doing outstanding and altruistic work for the island. Many valuable connections and discussions about future actions and data exhibitions in the island! https://lnkd.in/dwywitPy

What is the importance of preserving natural and cultural heritage? 🤔 Mystical Danube preserves local heritage and traditions from being lost. Natural and cultural heritage is a way of connecting with the local community, and the rich history of a region. These are assets that can contribute to regional economic development, 📈 social inclusion, and community well-being. ✅ We hope that our project will bring together a range of different stakeholders, from local to international – strengthening the connections between heritage projects across Eastern Europe 🇪🇺 and generating income for areas in need of economic development. Through collaboration with local organizations, businesses, and communities, 👥 we are working towards a project that will directly benefit locals and generate grassroots growth. #MysticalDanube #Interreg #DanubeRegion #RuralDevelopment #GreenDanube #StorytellingRoute #culturalheritagepreservation #Ipolyvalley #Börzsöny #Hungary #economicdevelopment #socialinclusion #communitywellbeing
