Just a few examples of why Oban is such a special place. From the food to the history, and especially, the whisky. Our home town has so much to offer travelers from far and wide, as a ferry port and as a destination in its own right. Take a look at this recent article from The Scottish Farmer to learn more. https://lnkd.in/ekANfXxr

Moving North. Between 1974-2020, France lost 441,500ha of vineyards (-37%), half of which in Languedoc-Roussillon (-216,000 ha, -50%). The only winners are in the north of France, Champagne (+55.8%), Burgundy (+43.9%), and Alsace (+41.4%).

So, Alsace grew by 41%, but Bourgogne which grew by 44% could actually nearly accommodate 1974 Alsace acreage into its expanded vineyards... And, Champagne + Bourgogne are now 9% of French vines - compared to 3.8% in 1974

It is only quarter two of 2024, yet we are delighted to announce our second major Award success. At the recent 'London Spirits Competition', Carpathian Single Malt Whisky’s Madeira expression took a ‘Gold’ medal, whilst ‘Silver’ medals were awarded to our Feteasca Neagra, Vradiano, Ruby Port, Burgundy, Cognac, Amarone, Commandaria and Peated Cask Strength expressions. The multi-disciplinary judging panel made up of 40-members, analysed entries on the basis of Quality, Value-for-Money & Appearance and so we are very proud that so many of our expressions were selected. Dr Nawaf Salameh, Founding Chairman, Alexandrion Group said: “The London Spirits Competition holds much importance for us, firstly, in terms of the diversity of the judging panel, pulling together many leading figures in the spirits industry from varying backgrounds. And secondly, London and the UK is a key market for Carpathian Single Malt Whisky and the Alexandrion Group as a whole. It goes without saying, that I am more than delighted and proud that our flagship product continues to exemplify the best of what Romanian products can offer, using the innate qualities provided by through nature, culture and heritage”. #londoncompetitions #london #uk #spirit #spiritindustry #winner #carpathiansinglemaltwhisky #romaniasfirstsinglemalt #romanianmaltedbarley #singlemalt #romaniasfirstsinglemalt #romanianmaltedbarley #singlemalt #beverageindustry #spiritsindustry #singlemaltsociety #whiskylovers #alexandriongroup

🚢 Did you know that we have a museum in #Stockholm dedicated to a ship that was an epic fail? #Vasa is a Swedish warship built between 1626 and 1628 under the orders of King Gustavus Adolphus. Richly adorned and armed with bronze cannons, it was intended as a symbol of Sweden's military might. However, despite its grandeur, Vasa sank after sailing roughly 1,300 meters into her maiden voyage in 1628 due to unstable design, a tragic result of the king's ambition and haste. The ship lay forgotten until its rediscovery in the late 1950s in Stockholm harbor, where it was salvaged largely intact in 1961. Since then, Vasa has become a symbol of both Sweden's maritime history and the consequences of unchecked ambition. The artifacts recovered from the wreck have provided invaluable insights into 17th-century naval warfare and daily life. In #HorizonEurope, as in the Vasa's story, we must acknowledge that sometimes, we mess up. What we thought would be a great consortium turns into chaos, making it impossible to manage and deliver what was agreed in the #GrantAgreemnt. The technology that was supposed to change the world turned out to be technically or economically unfeasible. Perhaps it's time for Horizon Europe to consider establishing a repository of significant project failures. Does such a repository already exist? It could provide valuable insights to navigate the complexities of innovation and ensure more impactful future endeavors. #EpicFail #HorizonEurope #ProjectManagement #EUFunds Vasa Museet: https://www.vasamuseet.se/ Vasa https://lnkd.in/dEdeGjHR) https://lnkd.in/d4szv6-k
