A few weeks ago, we had the privilege of speaking with the business owners and entrepreneurs who are part of the Marketing Kaw-Kaw sessions organized by Eric Siew from Choobub. We talked about the values that drive an entrepreneur and how they could incorporate personal experiences, skills, and mission into their brand story. When it comes to personal branding, oftentimes, we might feel pressured in knowing when is the right time to share certain personal stories, especially when it may be a painful incident. In storytelling structure, this is the hero's journey... a pathway where someone goes through a series of challenges and transformations in order to achieve a goal. I shared about knowing the difference between wounds and scars, and using that as a guide. Here's what one of the participants said: "Knowing that it's okay to keep our personal stories, which are still wounds, private because the wound is still fresh, is a profound takeaway for me. It's okay to take time to heal. Once our wounds heal and become scars, we can share these stories with our clients when we're ready, allowing them to understand the challenges we face. Despite all of that, we are able to arise stronger and confront the world."
