The semiconductor industry is facing a critical challenge to attract and retain top talent. Massive investments and capital expenditures are at stake, and the industry needs to mobilize the right talent from all three targeted labor pools. This requires a collaborative approach, with a much broader range of programs and partnerships to attract and retain the necessary talent. To achieve this, we need additional marketing initiatives to promote these programs and wraparound community services to support trainees. We also need to ensure that program curriculums align with the skills employers seek to encourage program completions and align with hiring criteria. Let's work together to address these pressing talent issues and unlock the full potential of the semiconductor industry.

To all of my Intel friends who are embarking upon their next chapter in the coming week or month. Here are a few things I’ve been thinking and talking to others about. I hope you find it helpful. Not sure if taking a package was a good idea? Myths: •My job was too specialized •I won’t make as much money •I don’t know how to interview Reality: •Your job may have been specific, but your skills are broad. Things like pace, agility and results-orientation are invaluable to every hiring manager on “the outside.” •Maybe you won’t make as much (at first), but it is amazing how much your happiness is worth. •Searching for a job is no fun, but working at Intel taught us how to advocate for ourselves. Do you remember the phrase, “you own your own employability?” For those of you who remember “ranking and rating,” and writing your IPS, brag sheet or whatever they call it these days, you’ve been interviewing at least once a year! Take it from me, there is indeed life after Intel. Welcome to the Club!

Is Your Company Hiring? Many job seekers come to me either domestically or abroad, asking if there are vacancies in my company that I am attached to. I wish I could give a more positive answer other than, "As far as I know, we're in the hiring freeze until further notice" except a few critical positions. They were surprised as according to PMX, the E&E and semiconductors in Malaysia are booming. I asked my connections who are working in the same industry. Their companies are also in either hiring freeze or in limited selective hiring. Frankly, I don't keep track of which companies are hiring. My sources are probably the same as yours. Therefore, I don't know any better. I hope whatever is in the making as confirmed by PMX, it should come up soon. p/s: I am still attached to Nexperia UK Ltd. #semiconductors I #jobseekers
