The White House's Executive Order presents a myriad of opportunities for advancing Women's Health research and innovation. However, true progress hinges on more than just rhetoric; meaningful policy changes are essential. Particularly in maternal health, where disparities persist, tangible advancements require not just declarations but concrete actions. This includes equitable access to healthcare, addressing systemic barriers, and investing in comprehensive support systems. Without these fundamental shifts, the landscape of Women's Health may see potential squandered, leaving vital issues unresolved. It's time for policies that match the ambition of declarations, ensuring that progress is not just promised but executed. Why is women's health never a priority? . Despite living longer on average, women endure 25% more years in poor health or facing early demise. The ‘women’s health gap’ tallies 75 million lost years annually, according to a new report by World Economic Forum & McKinsey Health Institute. Closing it could benefit 3.9 billion women by giving them back 7 extra healthy days a year, or an average of 500 days over a lifetime. . 📌 As someone who has directly worked with thousands of women and girls to talk to them about their health, it's heartbreaking to witness that no one ever tells them to prioritise their health. 💡Women are asked to deal with their pain, discomfort. They are told that it's gonna be okay, that the it's womanly to ensure pain. 📍The same approach was taken by healthcare researchers. Therefore, disorders are PCOS and Endemetrios etc was never properly researched upon until very recently. 📐Govts and policymakers don't prioritise women's health enough because of the shame and taboo. We need a lot more last mile delivery of interventions THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE. This #WorldHealthDay, let's invest in and prioritise advocacy and action on closing this health gap for women.

Did you know that women spend 25% more of their lives in poor health than men? The lack of data, care, and visibility for women's health has a heavy impact, with ripple effects for broader society. New research from McKinsey & Company and World Economic Forum reveals that investing in women's health would not only add years to their lives, but also boost the global economy by $1 trillion annually by 2040. Addressing this gap hinges on: 📍 Confronting disparities around women-led knowledge and science 📍 Repairing data gaps and performing studies that actually include and accommodate female bodies. 📍 Enhancing access to gender-specific care and providing comprehensive health-based solutions for women worldwide 📍 Overturning historical underinvestment in women's health and increasing funding to address unmet care needs Bringing women's care to the forefront and achieving health equity is not an isolated issue. It must be an ongoing and collaborative effort between governments, healthcare institutions, policymakers, private organizations, and stakeholders at all levels. #WomensHealth #GenderEquality #CareNeeds

A new study by the Commonwealth Fund uncovers concerning disparities in women's health outcomes between the U.S. and other high-income nations. Despite its global wealth, the U.S. significantly lags in women's life expectancy, healthcare access, and overall health outcomes. Alarming trends include the highest rate of avoidable deaths among women and notable racial/ethnic disparities, particularly impacting Black and Hispanic communities. Being the sole country without universal health coverage in the study, these findings prompt critical reflections on the effectiveness of the U.S. healthcare system in advancing women's well-being.
