What Is Sustainability? Sustainability as the meaning of the word; It is defined as protecting its ability to be permanently while ensuring the continuity of diversity and productivity. The introduction of the concept of sustainability in the global sense was formed by the report titled “Our Common Future ğı published in 1987 by the World Environment and Development Commission, which works within the United Nations. In this report, the definition of sustainability is made as follows: Humanity; It has the ability to make development sustainable by providing daily needs without endangering the ability of nature to respond to the needs of future generations. The life of all of us depends on natural resources. And these natural resources do not have eternity. At this stage, the concept of sustainability comes into play. We will recognize and analyze our technology, climate, environment, energies, natural resources and make long -term plans and guide them on planned resources. We will perceive sustainability as a whole. We will be aware of renewable energy resources, instead we wil...

Sustainability Sustainability - one must have it in designation but actual practice / involvement is anti-sustainability. If it was the case then it will have reflected in all that we see built / developed around us.

Tonkin + Taylor is thrilled to unveil our T+T Group Sustainability Report that looks at our 2023 progress and actions for 2024. T+T’s Executive Leader – Sustainability, Brett Ogilvie, says, “For me, our Sustainability Report reflects our commitment to transparency. While we are very proud to be leading the way in some areas, in other areas we still have work to do. But by being transparent about our goals and our progress towards them, we can hold ourselves to account, and be held to account for achieving ongoing progress”. This report references the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards and focuses on our three key impacts: contributing to communities, taking care of nature in the built environment, and supporting the built environment workforce. It showcases the development of our sustainability services and what we are doing to “walk the talk” by embedding sustainability in T+T Group operations. From pioneering projects to collaborative initiatives, this report is also a testament to our commitment to sustainability in our project work. T+T’s Group Sustainability Programme Director Erica Olesson shares, “I’m excited to share some of the progress we made over the last year in our overall strategy and in each of the biggest areas we impact. I look forward to working with our internal team, clients, and partners, to continue building on this progress over the next year.” We want to thank our people, clients and partners for shaping this pivotal work, empowering us to make informed decisions and drive meaningful change. Together, we can redefine what's possible, to create and sustain a better world. Read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/eYECYExj

Tonkin + Taylor's latest Sustainability Report is now live, and I’m really proud to share our progress and our targets for 2024 and beyond. Our purpose is: “Together we create and sustain a better world,” and the report shows that we're taking the right steps towards honouring that purpose. A lot of work happens to improve our business, and the report enables us to check in and reflect on our journey so far. Further to that, the rigor of the Global Report Initiative and external audit processes challenges us to continuously improve, which we embrace. The big steps in 2024 will be our attention to our sustainability services and working towards third-party verified sustainable business certification to the UN Sustainable Development Goal Impact Seal. I expect further progress with our diversity and inclusion programme that enriches our talent and culture, and our growing work in the community to help diversity and inclusion in the wider industry. Producing this report is not just about meeting targets though; it's a reflection of our core values and dedication to making a positive difference. It embodies our belief that sustainability is integral to everything we do and showcases our ongoing commitment to fostering a more resilient and environmentally responsible world. A big thank you to our team, partners and clients who all contributed to these achievements. Your support and collaboration are crucial as we navigate the future of sustainability together. This weeks definition – Sustainability. In the broadest sense, sustainability refers to the ability to maintain or support a process continuously over time. In business and policy contexts, sustainability seeks to prevent the depletion of natural or physical resources, so that they will remain available for the long term. What Are the 3 Principles of Sustainability? The principles of sustainability refer to the three core concepts of environmental, social, and economic sustainability–sometimes broken down as "people, planet, and profits." This means that in order to be considered sustainable, a business must be able to conserve natural resources, support a healthy community and workforce, and earn enough revenue to remain financially viable for the long-term. #sustainability https://lnkd.in/g9-uj6AE.
