Work anniversaries suck. They're just reminders of another year gone by. But what if we flipped the script? 5 ways to make your work anniversary actually meaningful: 1. Reflect on growth Take stock of how far you've come since day one. What new skills have you gained? What challenges have you overcome? 2. Set future goals Use this milestone to envision where you want to be next year. What do you want to achieve? What areas do you want to improve? 3. Express gratitude Thank the colleagues who've supported your journey. A heartfelt note can strengthen relationships and boost morale. 4. Give back Consider mentoring a junior colleague or volunteering for a company initiative. Pay it forward and create positive impact. 5. Celebrate uniquely Skip the generic cake. Do something that reflects your personality and values. Maybe it's a team hike or a skill-sharing session. Work anniversaries don't have to be empty rituals. They can be powerful catalysts for growth and connection. How will you make your next work anniversary count? --- Let's connect

Work anniversary thoughts... Hmm, it feels surreal to be typing this out – my 14-year work anniversary, path of growth, challenges, and countless memories. Don't get me wrong, that I was never thinking if I should have taken a different path, or if there's a grander adventure waiting just beyond the horizon. But then I remember something - I like what I do. I've been entrusted with a responsibility that's both daunting and exhilarating-ensuring Occupational Health and Safety. Working across borders, navigating diverse regulations, and collaborating with colleagues worldwide, every day brings a new puzzle to solve and a new life to safeguard. It's a role that carries weight - the weight of responsibility for the well-being of others, where a misstep could mean more than just a missed deadline. But amidst the seriousness, there's a joy that's hard to explain. Yes, the challenges can be relentless, but they've also been my greatest teachers, shaping me into the person I am today. So, as I pause to celebrate this milestone, I'm filled with gratitude - for the journey that brought me here, for the opportunities that pushed me to grow, and for the incredible people who've believed in me and walked alongside me. Here's to 14 years of learning, of laughter, and of making a difference, one step at a time. Here's to the next chapter, whatever it may hold! #worklife #evolution #anniversary

The Great "Work Anniversary" Dilemma Let’s face it: LinkedIn is basically the Facebook of the corporate world. And nothing drives this point home more than work anniversary notifications. You’ve been at your job for 2 years? Congrats, you’re now officially married to your desk. A colleague celebrates 10 years at a company? Time for everyone to comment, “Cheers to many more!” even if they secretly hope to retire early. But here's a question—how do we actually measure success in those years? Is it the number of promotions? The coffee meetings that turned into career opportunities? Or the sheer resilience to survive Monday mornings? The truth is, every work anniversary is a personal story. Maybe it’s about growth. Maybe it’s about perseverance. Or maybe it’s just a reminder to finally update your LinkedIn profile photo. So, here’s to all the silent warriors celebrating another year of office politics, Slack messages, and the eternal search for the perfect work-life balance. What’s your take on work anniversaries—cause for celebration or just another day? #LinkedInLife #WorkMilestones #CareerJourney

Yesterday was my 20 year work anniversary. It’s been an adventure: 9 roles, many miles and countries, countless projects, awesome freebies, amazing connections and incredible experiences but what I value most is how ‘work’ is teaching me: 1. How to be my authentic self. 2. How to “get through the day” in the best way possible. ***What about you?*** Go out with your colleagues. You’ll have more fun at work if you have fun with them out of work 🍸 Have the most brilliant fun with the new people you meet every day-you’ll make their day and they yours. Even the “lipstick” clients 😂 Make mistakes/say sorry. It’ll help you. Somethings won’t matter next week. Or tomorrow. Or even in the next 10 minutes. Don’t worry about everything! 🦆 Feel empathic to them, not sad for you. They suffer with their insecurity. Work wants you but your family needs you-put them first sometimes. Be friendly with EVERYONE! It makes everyone happier! Be vulnerable 💔 #ELCFamily

As July wraps up,I have hit a milestone -my 1-year work anniversary as a Projects & Events Officer at C40 Cities. 🎉 I don’t usually make a fuss about work anniversaries, but this one feels Special. It’s not about my extraordinary achievements, but about the power of small, meaningful moments that make our daily work fulfilling and enjoyable. In just a year, I have experienced so much that goes beyond the job description (𝘢 𝘵𝘰𝘱𝘪𝘤 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘵!)—lessons in leadership, collaboration, and the essence of a positive work culture. Here’s what stands out: 1. 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽: A huge shoutout to whole incredible team and extended team as well their constant guidance and unwavering support. Their belief in my abilities and their encouragement make every challenge feel like a shared mission. 2. 𝗢𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: At C40, I have been entrusted with meaningful tasks and given the freedom to take ownership. The genuine appreciation from my team and leaders makes even the smallest wins feel significant. 3. 𝗔 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁: The little things matter here—like not being contacted for project updates while on leave and the generous two-week well-being break we receive. These gestures create an environment where respect and trust thrive. Personal message to share :- While waiting nervously for my interview results, my dad offered his last words of wisdom that have stayed with me. He said, “𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 𝙙𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙣𝙤𝙬—𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙬𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙯𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙤 𝙖 3-𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧-𝙤𝙡𝙙—𝙞𝙨 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙨 𝙫𝙖𝙡𝙪𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙖𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙧 𝙧𝙤𝙡𝙚. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙨𝙚𝙩 𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙨, 𝙙𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨, 𝙤𝙧 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠 𝙤𝙣. 𝙃𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙖𝙢𝙚 𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙖 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙧. 𝙎𝙤, 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡 𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙞𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙟𝙤𝙗.” Initially, I misunderstood my dad’s advice, feeling disheartened as if he was suggesting that not getting the job would be acceptable and that I was less deserving. However, once I secured the position, I realized he was emphasizing the importance of dedication and attitude I bring to any task are what truly matter. As I celebrate this milestone, I’m reminded of my dad’s wisdom and how it has guided me to bring my best self to work every day. As I reflect on the positive impact C40 Cities has had on my professional and personal growth, I am motivated to contribute even more to our shared goals and continue learning. Here’s to many more years of making a difference together! 🌍 #Journey #Gratitude #PositiveImpact #C40Cities #Growth

🎯50 Years of Dedication.. and All You Get is an Email!🎯 Work hard for decades, pour your energy, time, and soul into a company, and what do you get? A simple email saying: "Congratulations on your 50th Work Anniversary with us." No grand celebration, no genuine appreciation—just a generic note in your inbox. 👉 If you think it sounds exaggerated, try it yourself. The corporate world often forgets the human side of things. 📝 Lesson learned: Always prioritize yourself, your health, and your family. Your job, your title, and your accolades are secondary and temporary. ✅ Invest in your well-being, spend quality time with loved ones, and never let work overshadow the things that truly matter. Remember, companies can replace you in a heartbeat, but you are irreplaceable to those who care about you. 🧠💡 #WorkLifeBalance #CorporateReality #PrioritizeYourself #MentalHealthMatters

🎉Happy 1st Work Anniversary to Brittnie Gerard! 🎉 Brittnie is our Office Clerk, who joined us in August of 2023. Here’s what she had to say about her big day: 1- Why did you want to work for/be a part of the Economic Alliance? At first, I did not realize I wanted to, as I started as a temporary employee. However, as I got to know the team and how hard we work to grow a stronger business community, I knew I wanted to stay. 2- What has been the most rewarding part of being on this team? The most rewarding part about being on this team is knowing that what I do every day does matter and is part of the bigger picture. 3- How are you planning on celebrating your anniversary? What excites you about the upcoming year? Hmm… I don’t know how I will celebrate; I haven’t really thought about it until now. Market After Dark is this weekend, and this will be my first time participating in it. I am thrilled to be involved with that! My goal for next year is to grow even more professionally by trying new opportunities and meeting new people. 4- What is your favorite Economic Alliance brand color and why? My favorite EA brand color is teal because it is a great accent color- I even have it in my kitchen.

Company work anniversaries I see on LinkedIn the regular notifications about work anniversaries, and like a lemming I send the stock response of congratulatory wishes to those I haven't touched base with for a while. But I started wondering what I am congratulating them for. Do we subliminally think that long service is some sort of survival recognition. Am I suggesting surprise at how long someone has lasted? I hope not but if that's not the case what is ? What does length of service actually measure? Well obviously it measures time and so maybe its like a birthday and people go out and celebrate their work anniversaries with colleagues, with balloons and cake ….but I don't think so. Does it measure success ? Clearly not because that would be relative. If the same person took jobs that focused on their own professional development then they would probably progress faster than staying at one place … or maybe i am wrong again. Maybe longevity brings familiarity, grows trust and builds on a structured professional development program tailored for each individual ( yeah right !!). So what are we really celebrating when someone has a work anniversary. Help me please because I'd like to make my response to the notification more meaningful than an emoji and congrats. HELP !!!!!
