Interesting statistics as we quickly approach the back half of 2024: - 12% of all nonprofit giving happens within the last few days of the year - 28% of nonprofits raise up to 50% of their annual donations during year-end campaigns - 30% of all nonprofit donations happen during the month of December How do you support your preferred charities? If you participate in Giving Tuesday, what is your motivation? My motivation is the great organizations I get to support through donating to charity teams like Imerman Angels. This year I'm starting Giving Tuesday early by kicking off fundraising for the 2024 Chicago Marathon via Team Imerman. Their mission is to provide comfort and understanding for all cancer fighters, survivors, previvor, and caregivers through a personalized one-on-one connection with someone who has been there. Imerman Angels envisions a world where cancer is not a solitary experience.

This program will start with 10-second intervals and work up to 60-second intervals. The pattern is 3-days of work-outs followed by a rest day. It is a manageable and sustainable plan. You choose the time and location! On June 23, 2020, we faced an unimaginable loss. Ade Ayodele, a vibrant sports executive, dedicated friend, and cherished member of the Ayodele family, passed away from colon cancer at just 31 years old. Determined to transform our grief into purpose, we channeled our energy into supporting the the V Foundation's Stuart Scott Memorial Cancer Research Fund. In 2020 alone, we raised $100,000 to advance the understand the biological basis of cancer disparities. Through Facebook fundraisers, runs, and rides, our community united to prevent others from enduring similar heartache. These efforts have evolved into our annual Play for Ade golf tournament, celebrating Ade's passion for golf and mentorship. This year's event was especially memorable as my little 2-year-old Ade picked up a club for the first time, swinging in honor of his late uncle. Yet, our mission is far from complete. Too many young lives, like those of Stuart Scott, Chadwick Boseman, and Virgil Abloh, are cut short by cancer, and we don't know why. I am proud to announce that we donated another $5,000 this year, thanks to the unwavering support of our attendees, sponsors, and community. Outstanding! This gracious and generous support is essential for advancing research that continues to improve the effectiveness of blood stem cell treatments. Improving the use of scarce blood stem cells is an area of research in particular need of greater effort. It is not widely known that sometimes these precious donations also have too few stem cells. Twelve to 18% of children who receive cord blood transplants do not have good outcomes, because unbeknown to their doctors, their transplants had too few stem cells. Even in highly effective adult blood stem cell transplant therapy, depending on the transplant center, 5-27% of initial treatments are insufficient, requiring that donors return for more intensive and harsher stem cell collections. Research to provide an accurate differential count for the critical stem cells in treatments would reduce or prevent these persistent devastating treatment failures. Knowing the differential stem cell count of scarce treatment samples might also allow some of them to be used to treat more than one patient, which would reduce the donor scarcity problem even further. asymmetrex.com

I worked for almost 10 years for the Golf department at a private country club which were some of the best 10 years of my life from 2006-2016. The relationships I formed and the life lessons I’ve learned, have shaped me to who I am today and I’m forever grateful for those experiences. I mentioned this because I’d love to be playing in this tournament tomorrow, but I’m not but I’m hopeful for next year. As a #RareCancer survivor myself, I credit my cure to the therapy that actually eradicated my terminal #Cancer from a single one time #AutologousCellTherapy using my own #TIL or #TumorInfiltratingLymphoyctes. These type of novel #AdvancedCellTherapies which use a patient’s own specific cells to fight back the ones that go rogue and mutate, not only saved my life, but is also the same concept that is changing the future of #RareDisease. I do not work in philanthropy or the #CGT industry specifically but I do follow this space very closely. The world of #CellTherapy is so much more than just the cure for #SolidTumors or #HematologicCancers, but also the answer to autoimmune diseases like #RheumatoidArthritis and #Diabetes as well. The data is out there with studies and clinical trials. Over the past 4 1/2 years as I’ve been navigating survivorship and recovery, finding a sense of community has been more of a challenge than I thought it would be. I’ve never been in this position before so I didn’t know what to expect but I am mission focused. Instead of being disease focused, I have concentrated my efforts on treatment and therapy focused spaces which has led me to connect with the Emily Whitehead Foundation. As a needle in a haystack, it’s tough to find other needles and with so few, sometimes they are hard to find. Can you help me and my team? The Victory Ride to Cure Cancer is less than a month away. My legs are still not ready, so I think I might have to convince Mujteba Haidri, Scott Long, Pete Deichler, PMP, & joseph gillikin that we should put in a 50 mile training ride this weekend. That said, I'm ~$300 shy of taking the #2 spot for Top Fundraisers. Our team is currently sitting at #2 already but I'm not sure we can overtake the Biker Chicks. This speaks to the importance of building a bigger team for the 2025 ride since they've got at least 5 more on their team than we do. Since I'm reading Anthony Lee's book, Race for Greatness, I'm reading that he used to put in some strong 60 mile rides on his bike back in the day. Maybe we'll have to recruit him for the 2025 Victory Ride? I'm sure there are others in LinkedIn world who wanna join us too. (Just let me know.)
