🏆 𝗘𝗨𝗞𝗜 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆: It's possible and cost-effective to power the Polish city Hajnówka with renewable energy🔋 A feasibility study by EUKI project 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿-𝘁𝗼-𝗛𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗛𝗮𝗷𝗻ó𝘄𝗸𝗮 demonstrates that converting the coal-based district heating system of Hajnówka to large heat pumps powered by renewable energy is technically feasible, economically viable, and environmentally beneficial. The switch would reduce CO2 emissions by 84%, cutting GHG emissions by 22-24 tonnes annually. Despite initial investment costs of around €25 million, the project promises stable heat prices and significant long-term savings. The success has inspired similar initiatives, including a follow-up project in #Bitola, North Macedonia. 🎉 ENERGYNEST are thrilled to have hosted Terje Aasland, Norwegian Minister of Energy, at Yara International's production facility in Porsgrunn Norway. It was an honour to introduce Minister Aasland to our first-of-its-kind thermal storage installation, which helps save 12GWh of electricity imports and 6,000 metric tons of indirect CO2 emissions annually. ⚡ Our 4MWh Thermal Battery has been integrated into the steam grid at the Yara facility in Porsgrunn, where it stores thermal energy by condensing high-pressure steam then generating low-pressure steam on demand. This increases energy efficiency and provides greater flexibility to the facility’s grid. Yara's Porsgrunn facility provides 18 percent of Yara's total fertilizer production and its products help feed approximately 50 million people around the world. 💪 Senior members of the ENERGYNEST, Yara, and Innovation Norway teams discussed with Minister Aasland their work to upscale green technology in Europe and beyond. Experiencing this production facility first-hand, the Minister gained an insight into the inner workings of our mission to offer an alternative to fossil fuels by enabling industrial players like Yara to store and release renewable energy on demand. This benefits both people and planet, helping to ensure greater food and energy security on a global scale. 🌍 🙌 We’re proud to have received high praise from Minister Aasland, who said: 🎤 “In line with the energy transition, power generation from renewable, variable and non-regulated sources will increase. ENERGYNEST’s installation at Yara’s Porsgrunn facility is a great example of how Norwegian companies are enabling energy efficiency and flexibility.” Keen to learn more about the Minister’s visit? All the key ingredients in our iconic snacks – whether those be potatoes for our Walker’s and Lay’s crips, grains in our Quaker Oats or the nuts in Duyvis – are made in the sunshine. Quite literally. We would not be able to grow any of our crops without harnessing the power of the sun. Not only that, but through our #PepsiCoPositive strategy, we’ve also been using solar energy to ensure that our production processes in our facilities are as sustainable as can be too. And so, in another power move (pun intended), we’re really proud to say that our Polish plants in Michrów and Żnin will now receive 6 MWp from solar plants that span the area of six football pitches! That’s not all. Our continued local investment will further enable an additional 3 MWp of renewable energy by the end of 2025. We’re really excited by the progress we’re making towards our #netzero goals, and milestones such as this only demonstrate how our business is setting the standard for how we can all contribute to a more secure and #sustainable food system – from #FarmtoFork.

In Pyhra, Lower Austria, farmer Johann Deix has implemented an interesting project. Since 2018, when he began growing raspberries and blackberries, he learned that the berries do not thrive in hot and wet conditions but can tolerate a certain degree of shade. 🌿 To address this, he covered part of his plantation with semi-transparent solar modules that provide 35% shading, while the rest remains under foil tunnels. ☀️ This setup offers several advantages. The solar modules protect the berries from heavy rain, hail, and overheating. ☔️ Compared to the foil tunnels, which require regular replacement, the solar modules demand less maintenance. Additionally, they help extend the harvest season by taking advantage of varying light conditions. 🌈 The system also generates a significant amount of electricity. ⚡️ The farmer consumes about 120,000 kilowatt-hours per year to cool the berries, while the new 499-kilowatt system will supply approximately four and a half times as much electricity, allowing him to share the surplus with his neighbors. 🤝 Matthias Zawichowski, the manager of the local climate and energy model region, has supported the project and is organizing a renewable energy community. 🌍 The farmer's financing approach is unique. Through "solar building blocks," for a one-time payment of 360 euros, supporters receive 36 bottles of raspberry Prosecco and 6 kilograms of raspberries over three years, along with a sense of satisfaction. 🍾 Additionally, the system is subsidized under the Austrian Renewable Energy Expansion Act. 🏛️ #cleanenergy #EnergyEfficiency #SolarInstallation #directsupplier #energy #SustainableSolutions #European #microinverter #greenenergy #inverter #Microinverter #solarinverter #SolarEnergy #solarenergy #solarsolutions #solar #solarunis
