Volvo should have also made the commitment to only design cars that look like a Volvo. Besides the current V90 / V60, you can only buy faceless SUV-like models. Maybe I’m the only one thinking this, but I really should not know what to buy next. Luckily Volvo builds cars to last

I drove Volvo's for the last 20 years (from old 940 via V50, S60, V70 and finally S80), passed over 1,2 million kilometers. Crossed over Europe many times. Very few breakdowns. With newer models, of course. Volvo tried to please too wide audience and made too many compromise in order to gain Merc/BMW/Audi drivers. Cost of this is (partial) lost of its identity and conversion from robust and undistructable car into expensive toy coated with lots of makeup and not so reliable electronics. Volvo was never cheap car, but it was considered as a safe long-term investment. Like a house. Unfortunately it changed and turned into expensive toy that demands sophisticatred (PC-controled) maintenance. Volvo gained new owners but those who really loved Volvo's are now searching for alternatives. The trend among producers is to "recycle" old models and make new ones that look alike. Maybe a management should think about this trend in a way that maintenance should also be as it was in the past when we could fix majority of failures ourselves with carry on toolbox? I am probably old fashioned (although I always drive and test various new cars) but robustness and simplicity were main atributes of Volvos. It is all gone with 700/900s..

I've been a Volvo owner (3 cars) since 2002. After my service visit to Volvo of Manhattan with their egregious tactics and unconscionable pricing, my next car will be any other brand. Put it this way, they got me for $2300 for rear brake pads, rotors and calipers after I approved an $1100 repair (knowing THAT was a ripoff). I took the car to another Volvo dealer and an independent shop which both confirmed that the other $4000 worth of work deemed necessary was entirely unnecessary. I decided to spend $400 at an independent shop for a new drive belt instead of the $1100 Volvo of Manasquan was charging and said was urgent (which was not the case). Volvo needs to stand for value in after-sales service. I know it's the profit margin leader of the company if not the world, but at a certain point a little honesty would go a long way. You not only lost my future car sales but also all of my repairs.

The car that the French compared to an ancient country wardrobe ("armoire normande", just as safe, solid, large and reliable, with the same aerodynamic properties 🤭), that established the modern legend of Volvo Cars.

I used to love my 740, it was huge, safe and comfy as a house! 😍
