Climate change is a global challenge which requires coordination and collaboration. Governments, businesses, consumers and many other stakeholders need to join forces if we are to take effective action. Ahead of the UN Climate Conference (#COP29), our CEO Jim Rowan has joined more than 100 other members of the World Economic Forum's #AllianceofCEOClimateLeaders in signing an open letter to world leaders. It calls for accelerated decarbonisation and invites public and private sector leaders to join them and their companies on a journey towards real, meaningful climate action. At Volvo Cars, we aim to reach net zero emissions by 2040. Emission reductions and #climateaction do not have to come at the expense of growth. Between 2019 and 2022, Alliance members achieved 18% revenue growth while reducing emissions by 10%. This demonstrates that what is good for the climate can also be good for business. #Sustainability #VolvoCars

The time for climate action is upon us. But the energy transition will take time. That is why we need to act now to do whatever we can to push forward the agenda.  That is why I have signed the World Economic Forum CEO Climate Leaders letter ahead of COP29, together with more than 100 other CEOs. We are calling for increased collaboration between businesses and governments to deliver on the Paris Agreement goals. This is more than a pledge—it's a commitment to real action.   By partnering with leaders across industries, we aim to close the emissions gap and drive a more sustainable future. From scaling up renewable energy to improving energy efficiency and supporting breakthrough technologies that reduce emissions. This is our opportunity to lead by example. As the saying goes; the price of leadership is responsibility.

It’s time to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Volvo PV444! Launched in 1944 at the Royal Tennis Hall in Sweden, the “little Volvo” is also known as Volvo’s peacetime car. This iconic car charted new territories in many ways. It was the first smaller car made by Volvo Cars with groundbreaking designs. Instead of a separate frame and body, the car had a monocoque design – meaning that the body and chassis were combined into a single, strong unit. A true testament to our heritage of safety, design and innovation. So, give it up for the beautiful PV444, proving that age really is just a number! #VolvoCarsHeritage #PV444 #VolvoCars

Last week we attended Climate Week New York to talk to business leaders, policymakers, and civil society from around the globe about climate action and how to succeed with electrification. Are we on track and what are the bumps on the road? Throughout the week, we highlighted the importance of activating the full mobility ecosystem in order to succeed, and the crucial role of policy and infrastructure in the transition. We need to see countries learning from each other and increase the speed of the transition globally. With five fully electric cars already on the market and another five in development, full electrification remains a key pillar of our product strategy for the future. We are ready for electrification, we hope you are too! #ClimateWeekNewYork #Sustainability #Electrification #VolvoCars Vanessa Butani Stuart Templar MBE Cassandra Julin World Economic Forum We Don't Have Time Climate Group

We are at a pivotal moment and the world cannot afford for electrification to fail. The EU 2035 target for 100% zero-emission new cars is crucial to align all stakeholders toward sustainable innovation and future-proof investments.   Electrification is the single biggest action our industry can take to cut its carbon footprint. The 2035 target is crucial to align all stakeholders on this journey and ensure European competitiveness. We urge EU policy makers to focus on what actions we need to take to get there, rather than reopening legislation just agreed on.    The EU Green Deal has laid a solid foundation to curb emissions, while attracting long-term investment in Europe. With global EV competition intensifying, Europe must stay committed to the vision. Policy makers must avoid reopening legislation that could undermine this progress.   Volvo Cars has joined key industrial companies and organisations from across the automotive, clean tech, transport and energy ecosystem, to urge EU policymakers, to uphold the recently adopted car and van CO2 standards and maintain the 2035 target for 100% zero-emission vehicles. You can read more about it here:  https://lnkd.in/gZ53nP2E Please join us in committing to this ambition.

Have you ever wondered how Volvo Cars develop its soundtracks? Dive into the music production of our latest Volvo XC90 campaign, featuring Frank Sinatra's classic, "That’s Life." This project presented a unique challenge: Sinatra’s original 1960s recording included all instruments played simultaneously, making it impossible to isolate individual elements. To honor this iconic track, we collaborated with Svenska Gramofonstudion and brought in skilled musicians to recreate each part separately. This allowed us to capture the depth and detail needed for high-quality production. The result is a soundtrack that enhances our narrative while respecting a significant piece of musical history. Our focus on creativity and craftsmanship drives us to deliver quality experiences in every project. #CarCommercials #VolvoXC90 #BehindTheScenes

In the wake of recent typhoon Yagi, the Volvo For Life Fund has sent rapid response funding to our global partner Save The Children. It will go towards the over 140 schools in northern Thailand affected by the typhoon, helping children return to learning as soon as possible. “This rapid response funding will go towards clearing and repairing schools, providing learning kits, and training community volunteers and teachers to provide mental health support for children returning to school after the disaster,” says Louise Thompson, who manages the For Life Fund. The Volvo For Life Fund is our philanthropic fund with the ambition to improve a million lives. Together with global and local partners, we focus on social and environmental initiatives to address challenges close to our company’s values. Through our global partnership with Save the Children International, the For Life Fund is helping to make sure that children can keep learning in an emergency, including through the provision of temporary learning spaces and emergency supplies. #SavetheChildren #VolvoForLifeFund #VolvoCars
