"Since our Rheumatology Department at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital began using Vula Mobile in September 2023, we have observed significant improvements in managing referrals. The app has streamlined our communication, enabling efficient triage and the provision of timely advice. A case involved a young patient with multisystem symptoms from one of the district hospitals. Using Vula, we effectively coordinated with other specialties, including dermatology and internal medicine, and formulated a clear management plan within 10 minutes of discussion. This was a considerable improvement over the previous, time-consuming process that often overburdened the referring doctor.  Moreover, Vula has not only enhanced the quality of our patient care but has also significantly reduced operational inefficiencies, particularly in the processing of referrals. Prior to adopting Vula, our department lacked precise data on patient referrals, often relying on estimates from phone calls routed through a busy switchboard. This old method was cumbersome, time-consuming, and prone to information loss and the need for repeated inquiries for additional information. The introduction of Vula has transformed this aspect of our work, ensuring more accurate, efficient, and streamlined communication and management of patient referrals."
