✨ Measuring societal impact of research with the Impact Track tool! But what is this tool? Research across the globe is contributing to addressing complex societal challenges. Effective impact measurement and management are crucial to truly valorise knowledge and to improve and sustain new solutions. However, this remains a significant challenge for many organisations. The Social Innovation Factory and Impact Track have been at the forefront of tackling this issue and developed an online tool which provides elements to measure societal impact in a user-friendly way. Responsible innovation and scaling is about being cautious about who benefits from (or misses out on) innovation scaling, as well as avoiding unintended consequences of scaling innovation (e.g. GHG emissions, malnutrition, environmental degradation, etc.). 📢 The Oxford SDG Impact Lab 2024 Fellowship Programme is Underway!    A new year, an exciting new fellowship programme, and a new cohort of Oxford SDG Impact Lab Fellows seeking to find sustainable solutions to some of the world's most pressing challenges; this month the SDG Impact Lab launched its 2024 fellowship programme and Masterclass Series.     We welcomed the 2024 Masterclass cohort of 68 postgraduate fellows, from 30 countries, beginning with an induction event at the Old Fire Station in Oxford.     The day offered information about the SDGs and the sustainability agenda, with fresh insights into the context and current climate surrounding the SDGs, and varying perspectives on how international and local organisations are seeking to tackle global challenges and meet the targets of the global goals.     Teamwork was key as the Fellows were asked ‘Do we have what it takes to save the world by 2030?’ Using skills of negotiation, co-operation & communication they undertook a real-world simulation led by Wendy Stone, Director of The Global Academy, with thoughtful reflections from the Fellows on the moral dilemmas often inherent in decision-making when balancing competing needs.    Dr Kate Simpson, Director of the Systemcraft Institute, led a constructive session which helped our Fellows set out the perimeters of a problem, exploring why it’s crucial to widen our lens of focus and the importance of collective action to achieve system change.    The final talk was delivered by Steve Kenzie, Executive Director, UN Global Compact Network UK on how to work with business to advance the SDGs. There were insights on getting companies on board to pursue global goals led agendas, on the shift towards circular business models & why committing publicly can help businesses reach their sustainability targets. OPEN ACCESS: Fisk, R.P., Kabadayi, S., Sidaoui, K. and Tsiotsou, R.H. (2024), "SDG commentary: collaboration services for sustainable development goal (SDG) partnerships", Journal of Services Marketing, Vol. 38 No. 2, pp. 238-246. This commentary aims to complete the synthesis of the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into Seven Commentaries on Service Research Themes developed by ServCollab and the Journal of Services Marketing. As an approach to achieving SDG #17, ServCollab’s collaborative logic and design perspective for collaboration services for sustainable development partnerships are presented. Collaboration is ServCollab’s Service Research Theme #7, which reframes the UN SDG meta goal #17 of Partnerships. Prior ServCollab research identified four possible human interactions: conflict, competition, cooperation and collaboration. Only the shared purpose of collaboration enables elevating the human experience. The authors found no published service research that studied SDG #17, which means there are huge opportunities for service research on the role of collaboration in service systems. The alignment between the UN SDGs and ServCollab’s goals is explored. A research agenda for service research and SDG goals was proposed for collaborative communications, collaborative technologies and collaborative projects. Practical ideas are offered for serving humanity through collaboration. Collaborations are the only practical solutions to humanity’s myriad sustainable development problems. When the United Nations developed its first 16 SDGs, they knew accomplishing these goals required complex collaborations. That is why SDG #17 is Partnerships. ServCollab’s serving humanity logic applies collaboration to all social settings (large or small) where working together can sustain and regenerate the service ecosystem of Planet Earth. This commentary describes a unique approach to building collaborative capacity for conducting service research projects for sustaining and regenerating the service ecosystem of Planet Earth. #sdg #SDGs #UnitedNations

🌱 I am thrilled to officially embark on a research journey into leadership for regenerative futures! What started as a seed of an idea over a year ago, nurtured with the invaluable support of Kim Aplonia Poldner, is now taking roots and beginning to grow. Together with Rolien Blanken, Bas van den Berg, Lonneke Frie PhD, and Naomi van Stapele, PhD, we are diving into a powerful question: How do professionals in management position within the education sector navigate unsustainable systems after experiencing their own consciousness shift? We're starting by exploring these consciousness shifts — pivotal moments (or life phases) when an individual’s worldview deepens and expands. Our goal is to understand how these changes influence their approach to existing systems and how they might work to transform the systems from within. We are creating a collection of stories to take their own life. Soon, we’ll be sharing how you can get involved in this exciting research! 🌿 In parallel, I continue working with the strategy team at De Haagse Hogeschool / The Hague University of Applied Sciences, though I’m transitioning to focus more on this meaningful research. The new work-dynamic encourages me to be less in doing myself and rather keep planting seeds of system transition within the organisation. Glad to be guided by the wisdom of fabulous mentor Judit Sáez Gonzálvez and the regenerative practice I am embracing.
