A community for those with skin conditions supporting the social, emotional, and spiritual impacts of living with visibly different skin
By uniting with patient groups globally, we can amplify our voices and work together towards empowering those affected by atopic eczema. Through organizing, advocating, and sharing our stories, we can shed light on the multi-dimensional impacts of the disease and strive for better care and support. Raising awareness for atopic eczema is essential in challenging misconceptions and ensuring that patients' needs are met with understanding and empathy. By coming together on September 14th, we can foster a supportive community that advocates for improved care and treatment reflective of the challenges faced by patients and caregivers. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in raising awareness, promoting understanding, and advocating for better care for atopic eczema. https://buff.ly/3VmGXmn #acommunityforthosewithskinconditions #volunteer #causes #donate #change #activism #nonprofit #dogood #charity #fundraising #philanthropy #socialgood #madeamasterpiece #+perspective #skinconditions #communityforskinconditions #yourenotalone #yourskinisacanvas #extrodinary #diseases

1 in 700 children are born with a cleft lip and palate. May 4th-12th is Cleft Lip and Palate Awareness Week and we are joining with @clapacommunity based out of the UK to share our story. Face the Future Foundation Board member Rena Rosen was born with a Cleft Lip and Palate and shares an excerpt of what she spoke about at our Glitter and Gold event back in November. She says, “When children or young adults are looked at and identified by textbook examples of Craniofacial anomalies needing to be fixed, we miss out on the full human being. Each person enters into medical spaces with their own story, their own experiences, and their own trauma. It is our job as at Face the Future Foundation to staunchly support CFC so that they can do their incredible work of creating that safe space where each individual feels respected, included in every step of discussion and feels as their unique experiences are valid.” Every face tells a story, what’s yours? This week is #VolunteersWeek - a chance to say thank you and celebrate our amazing volunteers. As a volunteer-run charity, everything we do is made possible by the kind support of our volunteers - from developing ideas and creating new resources, running awareness campaigns and research projects, providing support to families when they need it most, sending out our Little Box of Hope support packs, running webinars and events, liaising with schools and hospitals and the list goes on... It is all done by an amazing team of volunteers. Did you know that you don't need to go through the process of becoming an official volunteer with us if you wish to fundraise and raise awareness? You can still volunteer your time and energy without a long-term commitment to a certain number of hours a week by being flexible to suit you and still be able to support our work. You can do this by fundraising for Juvenile Arthritis Research or becoming a Community Champion in your local area by putting up awareness posters and looking for opportunities to speak about and nominate Juvenile Arthritis Research in your community. To fundraise for us, simply visit https://lnkd.in/eKrtSeaf To become a Community Champion to raise awareness in your area, email us to request posters that we can send you. Email kipo@jarproject.org Or if you can reliably commit several hours a week, every week to formally volunteer with us and support our core work, please contact Michelle@jarproject.org to find out more and start the application process. So this week we say a big THANK YOU to all of our volunteers and everyone who has supported our work through fundraising and raising awareness. We are so grateful to you and couldn't exist without you. #JIA #JuvenileArthritis #JuvenileIdiopathicArthritis #JuvenileArthritisResearch #Kipo #Arthritis #ChildhoodArthritis #ChronicIllness #AutoimmuneDisease #JARProject #JIAWarrior #ArthritisAwareness #charity #CharitableCause #NonProfit #Donate #Support #causes #fundraising #philanthropy #KidsWithArthritis #KidsGetArthritisToo #DontBeAloneWithJIA #InstaCharity #RaiseAwareness #ThinkJIA #AwarenessIsEverything #volunteer NCVO

Supporting employees and employers affected by cancer is crucial in fostering a compassionate and productive workplace. Dr Liz Sparkes' dedication to Yes to Life, driven by personal experience, exemplifies how impactful community engagement can be. Her efforts in organizing a retreat that raised over £1,300 highlight the power of combining wellness practices with charitable initiatives. Incorporate This Approach in Your Workplace: 1. Promote Employee-Led Initiatives: Encourage employees to organize wellness events and fundraisers, fostering a sense of community and purpose. 2. Integrate Holistic Practices: Offer sessions on meditation, breathwork, and compassion practices to support employees' mental and emotional well-being. 3. Community Engagement: Partner with local organizations and charities to create meaningful volunteer opportunities for employees. How Our Tree of Life Program Helps: Our Tree of Life Employee Vitality and Cancer Defense Program supports employees through all phases of cancer—diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and preventive care. By integrating holistic wellness practices, we help improve quality of life and support employers in creating a supportive work environment. Meet our Supporter - Dr Liz Sparkes "Liz decided to support Yes to Life after her friend Andy died of cancer last year. She supported him through his last year of life with meditation, compassion practices and energy work. She believes "in this being available to all". Her belief led her to organise a beautiful retreat which included sound journey to the heart, breathwork and a session on the essence of compassion with all profit donated to our work. She raised over £1,300 for Yes to Life and we are so grateful for her generosity! Thank you to Liz and everyone that helped make the event so successful. Wootton Park Wellness @Lexi's Loving Spoonful @become.one.breathwork (Adam Bray) And thanks to all the Practitioners who donated to the prize draw. There’s almost a guarantee you’ll never regret this one thing… Helping others. Think about every time you’ve helped someone in need. Didn’t you feel good knowing you were making a difference? At DSA, this is at the root of our mission… Helping researchers by providing them with the critical biospecimens they need to conduct studies in DS. Helping parents by making it easy for them to participate in research. And helping the DS community by advocating for people with DS to achieve the fullest quality of life possible. Continued funding is necessary to help us succeed. Join our community of monthly givers so we can help get treatments faster to the families who need them the most. Your monthly gift of $21 or more will make a lasting difference in the development of treatments and therapies that can absolutely transform the lives of individuals with Down syndrome and their families. I am #proud to share my #participation in a recent #blood #donation #drive. This experience was profoundly #impactful, allowing me to contribute to a #critical #cause and help #save #lives. #Volunteering for this #initiative was a humbling reminder of the importance of giving back to the #community and the #difference we can make through small yet #significant #actions. The blood donation drive was well-organized and saw a #significant turnout, reflecting the #collective #commitment of our #community to #support those in need. From registration to donation, the entire process was seamless, thanks to the dedicated efforts of the organizers and volunteers. I was particularly moved by the #stories of #individuals whose lives had been saved by #donated blood, #reinforcing the value of such #initiatives. Participating in this drive not only allowed me to donate blood but also to assist in various capacities, from helping with the registration process to providing refreshments for donors. It was a #fulfilling experience that #emphasized the #power of #community and #collective #action. Through this initiative, I gained a deeper #appreciation for the #importance of #healthcare support and the role we can all play in making a positive #impact.
