Tribal resistance and violence often arise from complex historical, social, and political factors, highlighting longstanding grievances and struggles for autonomy, land rights, and cultural preservation. In many regions, indigenous tribes face marginalization, discrimination, and economic exploitation, prompting protests, movements, and sometimes violent confrontations with state authorities or private interests. These conflicts underscore the challenges of balancing development initiatives with indigenous rights and environmental conservation. State responses vary widely, ranging from repression and militarization to dialogue and legislative reforms aimed at recognizing and protecting indigenous rights. Effective responses necessitate inclusive policies that prioritize indigenous voices, uphold human rights, and promote sustainable development in collaboration with tribal communities. By addressing underlying socio-economic disparities, respecting land rights, and fostering mutual understanding, governments can mitigate conflicts and pave the way for equitable and peaceful coexistence. #TribalResistance #IndigenousRights #ConflictResolution #StateResponse #SustainableDevelopment

Housing Older Women Movement Survey ---------- Older/Elder Women homelessness is a often unspoken yet prevalent part of our society. We can do something about it and one way is to comprehend what the issues are. In the past I have assisted the HOW to co-create their strategy for advocacy towards government and potential cohousing projects. If you are a woman with housing stress or know of someone who does, I am sure that HOW would appreciate your thoughts on their survey. All voices matter. https://lnkd.in/gj9g5Tad

We stand in solidarity with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and recognize the significant disparities in health outcomes for these communities and the urgent need to address them. National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. The National Reconciliation Week theme for 2024, ‘Now More Than Ever’, is a reminder to all of us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will —and must —continue. https://lnkd.in/fRGry5x
