Today, we would like to introduce the German Maritime Centre, as part of our social media campaign "Meet our members". Founded in 2017, the Deutsches Maritimes Zentrum is an independent institution based in Hamburg that supports the maritime sector. It focuses on innovative strength and the topics of the future to ensure that the industry continues to occupy a leading position in international competition. Its members are the German federal government as the main funder, five German states and the major maritime associations. The areas of work cover entire value chains in the fields of shipbuilding and marine technology, shipping, and ports and maritime logistics. The German Maritime Centre draws on the maritime sector’s innovative capacity and on topics of the future such as fossil-free, emissions-free propulsion systems, autonomous shipping, and recruiting young talent, so that the maritime industry can continue to maintain a leading position internationally. Helena Rapp, European Initiatives and Funding Programmes: “The German Maritime Centre is committed to strengthening the maritime sector in all its facets from a cross-sectoral and interdisciplinary perspective. We are convinced that the future of the maritime sector and the challenges it faces, such as technological change, sustainability, climate change, demographic change and attracting young talent, can only be solved through the joint commitment of stakeholders at European level. In WaterborneTP we have found the perfect organisation to turn these ideas into reality at European level. By contributing to the content of the working groups, providing strategic foresight on research and technology, co-designing European funding programmes and interacting with relevant stakeholders, WaterborneTP is creating the conditions and the forum for a resilient, competitive, innovative, sustainable and carbon neutral European maritime industry. It is an honour to be part of this organisation that brings together business, academia and the public sector for a future-oriented maritime sector.”

Join this dialogue between policy and science on the topic of sustainable land use and land management in Europe 🇪🇺 ⬇
📢Final Call! Don't miss out on the 1st Science-EU Policy Dialogue on Sustainable Land Use and Management in Europe. 📅April 16, 2024, 10-12 CET - Online 📄Secure your free virtual ticket: https://lnkd.in/dE7TfBjW 🌍Three Horizon Europe sister projects - MOSAIC, PLUS Change and Europe-LAND - are joining forces to create a dialogue between Horizon Europe researchers and EU policy makers. The objective? To promote understanding between political and scientific viewpoints on sustainable land use and management. This inaugural meeting in 2024 will initiate a multi-year dialogue culminating in a review in 2027 to align scientific and policy needs and develop common strategies. Who is asked to participate? Researchers, project leaders of Horizon Europe projects and EU representatives from the field of European land use and land management. ✨Why join? In this first virtual gathering, we will start gathering information on distinctive policy-relevant contributions by our SCIENCE representatives and, in parallel, collect insights from our POLICY representatives on current policy development needs that participating EU projects may meet with their research outputs. This scoping process ultimately lets us evaluate matches and identify gaps that need to be tackled, and we will produce an evaluation report to be shared among all participants afterwards. 🌿Mark your calendars! As this dialogue scheme is planned to take place annually, we will organize follow-ups in 2025, 2026 and 2027 during which will seek to narrow existing knowledge gaps and reflect on ongoing policy developments that may require new or amended insights from science. #Sustainability #EUResearch
