The Water Innovation Europe 2024 event draws to a close this afternoon. The discussions highlighted the interlinkage between Energy, Waste Management, Climate change and water. Or should I say: water is the common factor in most of the topics mentioned above. As much as we all had meaningful presentations and discussions on the way forward to mitigate the issues we are facing across regions/countries/continent, the event has been a wake-up call AND a call to action. If we are worried about access to energy for all, start reflecting on the subject of water. Different scale and we will all be faced with the consequences. Was I presenting ? No - not this time but I have adopted the topic and will continue participating in this market segment and building bridges between the Water Europe ecosystem and the Gushikama Business Consult network across the continent. Let's discuss how we can cooperate and convert these discussions into business and results. #WIE2024 #WaterInnovationEurope2024 #businessdevelopment

📢 Announcing the Water Environment Federation (WEF) Residuals and Biosolids Community (RBC), Bioenergy Technology Focus Group has recently published a new Fact Sheet! ➡️ Publication Spotlight: The benefits of co-digestion program are readily apparent, such as reduced greenhouse gas emissions, increased revenue through tipping, and increased energy production. There are of course risks associated with such programs. WEF RBC’s 2024 Fact sheet “Anaerobic Co-Digestion: Feedstock Sampling and Characterization” explains how to mitigate these risks by detailed characterization of potential co-substrates - followed by informed planning, proper design, and regular monitoring. With this information in hand - managers, operations and maintenance staff, and design professionals can evaluate the equipment, operational adjustments, and organizational focus necessary to make that initial investment into a sustainable solution. 📖 Read the full Fact Sheet here: https://lnkd.in/gRxrhAMN #biosolids #bioenergytechnology #anaerobiccodigestion #wastewater #residuals #waterresourcerecoveryfacilities #feedstockhandling #feedstocksampling

From agriculture to data centers – water plays a critical role throughout the economy and is one of the most precious resources for energy production. 💧 When the supply and demand of water misalign, our business ecosystem is at serious risk. Industries dependent on water, whether as a raw material, part of production processes, or for secondary uses, will feel the impact of water scarcity immediately. The cost of water will increase disproportionately as the resource becomes even scarcer and there will be a need for further transportation and purification. Low water levels also tighten energy generation capacity. By 2030, we expect the electrolyzer capacity to rise to c. 119 GW, requiring around 230 million tons of highly purified water. Even today, access to sufficient quantities of clean water is a key factor for the site selection of electrolyzers. At this week’s Global Water Summit, our experts join water leaders from around the globe in London to discuss the biggest challenges – and opportunities – of sustainable #WaterManagement. The Global Water Summit is the mainstay in the water industry's calendar and Roland Berger is a proud sponsor of this year's event, aiming to chart the course for a more resilient water future. 🌍 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gEc4waJS #RolandBerger #GWS24 #UnlockWaterPotential

INTRODUCING HYDRO20 As the world faces critical water challenges, there are those who see obstacles as opportunities. Hydro20 is a new initiative to celebrate these individuals… the ones who are driving change, disrupting norms, and doing good for water. They will come from diverse professions, backgrounds, and geographies, but be united by their commitment to sustainability of our most essential resource. Each year, Hydro20 will shine a light on their stories and lift up their solutions. Because the future of water depends on wavemakers. MORE DETAILS Hydro20 is organized by the waterloop nonprofit news outlet with support from Sciens Water This fall, the selection committee will suit to include representatives from a range of sectors such as utilities, technology, engineering, environmental, conservation, agriculture, food & beverage, and communications. In January 2025, Hydro20 nominations will open to the public, allowing a wide array of voices to participate in identifying the next set of wavemakers in the water sector. The first-ever Hydro20 honorees will be announced at the Rethinking Water Conference at Columbia University in 2025. Those interested in supporting the Hydro20 program or participating on the selection committee should contact Hydro20 organizers. Be ready to nominate. Be ready to celebrate. Hydro20 is here. We have the technology. We know what is needed. We need to take action to conserve the world’s precious water resources. This is the conclusion of a groundbreaking report from the Global Commission on the Economics of Water. This is also the basis of my recent keynote speech at the @Water Environment Federation’s #WEFTEC2024 event in New Orleans. It was a pleasure to spend a few days emphasizing our call to action and highlighting Grundfos’ commitment to meeting these challenges head on. Our focus on resilient and intelligent water systems responds to the imperative to build sustainable solutions. The good news is that we know what we need to do to fix this. 👉 We need to see water not just as a local challenge but as a global common resource. 👉 We need bold, integrated thinking and new economics. 👉 We need collaboration. The solutions we seek require a collective effort, a unified approach where each stakeholder plays a vital role. At Grundfos, we see an urgent need to recognize water as the indispensable source that it is, and we believe collaboration is at the heart of the solution. As mentioned, we have the technology at hand… We’re ready. So, let’s go! Link to the report: http://gfos.ly/6044qnRS0 #PossibilityInEveryDrop
