As a mom of two young daughters, I have been navigating a new journey of motherhood and career. At every turn, I am presented forks and uncharted waters trying to stay afloat as I forge ahead. Wondering what’s ahead, today Flipping The Barrel event had a panel that provided insight to the unknown for me. Regina and Kimberly shared some incredible advice around careers, motherhood, family, perspectives, and life. The best part was to hear their adult children’s perspectives and seeing the other side of the coin. Talk about invaluable! Here are a few things that resonated for me from the powerful discussion: •No such thing as balance: it’s an ecosystem and you have to cultivate into the outcome you’re looking for •Quality over Quantity: be present and intentional with the time you spend with your children/family •Survival as a unit: everyone plays a role in the family. Each role is important to the success of the family unit •Financial balance: Look at your time as an asset and outsource what you can in order to have the energy/time for the things that are most important. That looks many different ways depending on your personal situation at that moment in time and it can shift. Intentional help can be a game changer. •Always have perspective! If you put your problems in a bucket with the rest of the worlds, you would fight to have your problems back…. As I reflect on the this discussion; I feel seen, understood, and validated. Hearing others talk about the challenges/juggling I am currently going through and seeing them on the other side makes me excited to run into the unknown 💃🏻💪🏻 If my daughters are going to live a life where they work and become mothers; what a great opportunity for me to model that for them.
