Our board members inspire us every day! Blaine has shared the ways We Are Out 🌱 Grown makes an important impact: “We Are Out 🌱 Grown was recently known as Hike it Baby, but just rebranded as Out 🌱 Grown- to be true to what it is. I have been connected with “We Are Out 🌱 Grown,” formerly known as Hike it Baby, for more than 2 years because I see the amazing work it does to empower families with young children to step outside and enjoy the physical and mental benefits of growing up in nature. I am excited about the next step for this unique organization. Its recent rebranding to “Out 🌱 Grown” better reflects its true purpose and serves as an umbrella name to encompass three program pillars: 🏞 Hike it Baby – focused on community-led events such as hikes, 🌳 Bring it Outside - a program to help families build a habit of getting outside and overcome challenges such as accessibility, and 🦋 Turn the Blues Green - which supports new parents in going outside with their newborns which can be a powerful tool for overcoming postpartum depression. Together, these programs are helping families grow up outside, becoming Out 🌱 Grown. 🌤 👨👩👧👧 If you have the ability, and are considering donations at this end of year time, I would encourage and ask you to look at We Are Out 🌱 Grown, and support their amazing work." Our board is matching donations up to $5,550 - so please help us and double your donation today! https://lnkd.in/e-rcWeqj Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/e6-sxRdE

Hi #linkedin friends, happy NEW YEAR!! I am back at it again, this time for a big personal goal that includes BUFF. I need to make $800 in the next month or so. My husband and I need to move, as our lease is up and we cannot renew. So we are taking a leap again to move to San Antonio which is about 3.5 hours from us. We are moving with our 3 kids, Buff, and my 2 other cats we adopted last year. We have calculated moving costs and cat care in the coming month. I need to make this money for our cats to get shots + see the new vet I'm contacting in SA after we move the first week of February. I also need to get cat supplies, a cat tree, and some other little things for them to set them up in our new space. The last $100 out of the $800 I need is to buy cat food in bulk. I estimated everything and have made a cat binder to keep all their information organized. I'm putting out offers to make this money & am still selling my Fantasy themed Workbooks for #neurodivergent adults. I'm always very transparent here about my goals, why I need money fast when fundraising and what It will go towards. So I will be posting updates here as I go. This year I want to share content about my life with the #cats, my #neurodivergent kids, and my own experiences as a late realized #autistic woman with #adhd #cptsd #learningdisabilities. I'm creating resources and digital Workbooks + courses to help other late realized neurodivergent adults. And I'm brainstorming the same kind of products that ND parents can use with their ND kids so the whole family gets supported! I'm also contacting local cat cafes and shelters so that when we move I can get involved with cat rescue + donation. I'm so passionate about helping cats and love my cats dearly. BUFF has been a blessing to our lives and because of him, I became a cat owner to all 3 (I'm blogging about that story). I want to help out locally and help fundraise to cat rescues. I'm also looking into cat cafes as a business opportunity to offer my Neurodivergent Support services at (or to open my own practice partnering with a cat rescue program). Here's how you can help me: 1. Book me for $450 to work with you for 2 months on your current business and creative work. I do Virtual assistance work, branding, web design, and task management for Neurodivergent adults. 2. Buy a fantasy themed workbook here >>> https://lnkd.in/gE76jY-x 3. Donate but message me to share about yourself and your business so I can see if I can offer any advice or support as a thank you! paypal.me/jeangreyrising 4. If you know people in San Antonio who work with a cat rescue, shelter, cat cafe etc. please connect us! 5. Book me for website and branding. Custom quote for work. I make websites starting at $700 to $1000 depending on what you need & what kind of plan + domain is needed. I offer support calls within the pricing of this as a support package. Thank you in advance!! #linkedincreators #linkedinforcreators

🎄🤗 Embracing Special Needs Families During the Holidays 🤗🎄 As the holiday season unfolds, with its glistening lights and heartwarming melodies, it invites us to pause and reflect. It's a time for unity, and above all, compassion. While many bask in the festive joy, it's vital to acknowledge that for families with special needs, this period can be laden with unique challenges. 💔 The Struggle Behind the Festivities 💔 These families often grapple with financial strains and complex dynamics, especially during the holidays. The high divorce rates in special needs families underscore the immense pressures they endure, sometimes leading to strained or severed family bonds. 🌟 Recent Changes in Support Systems 🌟 A significant shift has occurred in our community with Rocky Mountain Health Plans (RMHP) becoming the Single Entry Point for Medicaid waivers and their recent takeover of the critical Family Support Services program. These changes, while promising on the surface, have brought a different reality. Many have found the transition challenging, with essential respite resources dwindling and difficulties adapting to new procedures. This has left numerous families feeling unsupported during a time that should be filled with support and understanding. 🙏 A Call to Action 🙏 This holiday season, let's extend our support to these families. A small gesture, like offering help or simply lending an ear, can significantly impact their lives. 🌟 Wrap Your Arms Around a Family 🌟 If you know a family navigating these challenges, consider how you might reach out. Something as simple as sharing a meal, offering to babysit, or just spending time with them can brighten their holiday experience immeasurably. 🔍 Practical Ways to Help 🔍 Beyond personal gestures, consider engaging in community initiatives. Volunteer for programs supporting special needs families, participate in donation drives, or help spread awareness about the resources available for these families. Every effort counts. Let's embody the true spirit of the holiday season by ensuring that no family feels overlooked or forgotten. By coming together, we can make this time of year warmer and more inclusive for everyone. #SpecialNeedsSupport #HolidaySeason #InclusiveCommunity #RMHP #FamiliesFirst

Working with marginalized communities and especially teenage mothers, teenage boys and girls and local villagers in Kilifi County of Kenya to help curb teen pregnancy is fulfilling. The journey has had its share of everything thrown; the amazing moments ,great moments ,beautiful moments, wow moments, sad moments, tough moments but above all, we have shared love, compassion, hugs, high fives, hope when it seemed dark. Getting a hurt, traumatized, broken, angry teen mother to open up and share her experience and to trust anyone again is not a walk in the park. It takes patience, love, understanding, empathy, late night distress calls and texts, active listening skills and so much more. Financial support is key in making the work possible so when the funds are low or not available, it makes it hard especially for the recipients when they lack the psycho-social support they were getting. We are now adding evangelical ministry to our work so that we can reach many more teenagers deep in the interior coastal regions and impart spiritual knowledge too as we teach them on SRHR knowledge especially targeting teenage pregnancies. Support our quest to reach the interior by donating bicycles, bicycle parts and accessories, food items, Bibles, clothing, financial support and prayers for the work to succeed and for destiny helpers and connectors. We need 950,000/= ($7,000) for a year to organize community meetings, have several bike races, print t-shirts and material needed on the ground. Meanwhile we do what we can on the ground to keep the work ongoing. Be blessed. It's pretty mild out, but that rain, eek! But you know what? I say that from the warmth and shelter of my own home. Too many people don't have that luxury. And you know what? It should not be a luxury. Everyone should have a home, a place to rest their head, a place of sanctuary, a place to rest, recuperate, and grow. We're heading into the final countdown to Christmas, and my final countdown until I sign off. Many of you reading this will have already put the OOO on, and switched into festive break mode. You. Deserve. It. But so does everyone else. So do the 135,800 young people who approached their council as homeless last year. So do the 73,660 households owed a prevention or relief duty by their council (5,394 in GM!) So do the 105,750 households in temporary accommodation. So do the 139,000 children in temporary accommodation. These are massive numbers, so I'll give you some smaller ones. Our winter campaign is just £9,120 off the target. That's just 304 of my network giving £30 each, enough to cover a bed for the night in the pioneering scheme, A Bed Every Night. It's not just a bed, it's the start of a journey to stability, and just one way we can make a dent in the terrible numbers reported daily. Those numbers are people. They're families, children, sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers, aunties, uncles. Let's get to that 30k target. Let's make a difference. Donate today. If you can't, don't worry, just spread the word. Together, we can end homelessness. https://lnkd.in/em8uekf4

How many toys are too many? 🎮🎲🛴 . . Sometimes we think that our children's affinity for toys will run us out of house and home. When asked what they want for birthdays, Christmas and other gift-giving holidays, they usually ask for toys. No matter how diligent we are in encouraging kids to donate unused toys, they are good at accumulating more. . . What differentiates a child with mounds of toys whose parents believe they may have hoarding tendencies from a child with mounds of toys whose parents have no concerns? The answer is, a few behaviours. . . Children who hoard accumulate more than just toys and associate feelings to these objects. "This is the kleenex that grandma gave me that \day at the beach, so I cannot throw it out or the great memory will be gone too". Their closet may be full of items, their floor not visible, a desk covered with stuff and unusable and bed absolutely covered with stuffed animals. Sure, that might sound like any of the kids you live with, but the difference is that children who hoard experience immense anxiety surrounding even the thought of parting with any object. . . If you think your child may be showing hoarding tendencies, here are a few tips. Create safe limits for the number of items they can accumulate. Let them know they can have as many stuffies as fits into the storage on their door; as many toys as fits into the toy bin, as many clothes as fits onto the hangers in their closet and as many sentimental items as fits into their keepsake bin. Put a donation bin into their room so that they can make decisions about what stays and goes freely and on their own terms. Setup a reward system to reinforce a positive feeling of accomplishment when they decide to use their donation bin (ensure these rewards are experiences and not things) and it would be a good idea to have them speak with a social worker, child counsellor or psychologist who specializes in children and hoarding. . . Children who hoard is not HALO's speciality, but we do see it from time to time. The good news is that there is help available if you have the courage to seek it out for them. . . #haloteamlove #childrenhoarders #childhoarder #toyhoarder
