HVDC engineers, I am doing a self training for myself and have a few questions, thanks you all if you can give me a better picture on DC power transition. Question: 1- If HVDC is suitable for long cable distances, why has in some short distances such as 75km and 100km been used? Usually in short distances converter losses are very high and complex controlling aspects of power electronic. 2- What is difference between a HVDC link and a detailed HVDC which includes converter, DC cable and inverter? Because in a HVDC link cable length and its loss can not be considered. So, which one is more practical in modelling? Since a comparison for an optimum DC power transfer can be achieved on different cable lengths in a detailed HVDC modelling for conclusion and project installation. Thanks in advance for your participation. #HVDC #Power systems #Electrical engineering

Power Up Your Knowledge! Did you know that three-phase systems are the backbone of electrical power generation, transmission, and distribution? Here are the key voltage levels to remember: Generation: 11 kV or 33 kV Transmission: 750 kV, 400 kV, 220 kV, 132 kV, or 66 kV Distribution: 400V (line value) And the secret to efficient transmission? Step-up transformers boost voltage at generating stations Step-down transformers reduce voltage at receiving stations Share your own electrical engineering insights in the comments! #electricalengineering #powergeneration #transmission #distribution #threephasesystem #transformers

A power transformer is an electrical device that transfers energy between circuits through electromagnetic induction, changing voltage levels. Types include step-up, step-down, isolation, auto, and distribution transformers. Key components are primary and secondary windings, magnetic core, insulation, tank, and oil. Transformers operate on principles of electromagnetic induction and mutual inductance. Power transformers are crucial in power distribution, industrial power systems, electrical substations, renewable energy systems, and transmission. Characteristics include voltage, current, and power ratings, efficiency, and frequency. Standards governing transformers include IEEE, IEC, ANSI, NEMA, and UL. Effective transformer selection, design, and maintenance ensure reliable and efficient power supply. #PowerTransformer #ElectricalEngineering #ElectricalPower #Transformers #EnergyTransmission #PowerDistribution #IndustrialElectronics #ElectricalSubstations #RenewableEnergy #EnergyEfficiency #PowerSystems #ElectricalDesign #TransformerMaintenance.

Auto Recloser Relay 79 This article by Eaton A recloser is an automatic, high-voltage electric switch. Like a circuit breaker on household electric lines, it shuts off electric power when trouble occurs, such as a short circuit. Where a household circuit breaker remains shut off until it is manually reset, a recloser automatically tests the electrical line to determine whether the trouble has been removed. If the problem was only temporary, then the recloser automatically resets itself and restores the electric power. Reclosers are used throughout the power distribution system, from the substation to residential utility poles. They range from small reclosers for use on single-phase power lines, to larger three-phase reclosers used in substations and on high-voltage power lines up to 38,000 volts. Standards for reclosers are defined by ANSI/IEEE C37.60. #electrical #engineering #Ansi79 #highvoltage #Diploma #technology #autorecloser #33kv #medium_voltage #power Siemens Energy ABB Schneider Electric
