A great lesson in business and operating concepts, specifically regarding ship building and repair firms’ (lack of) latent capacity, the effects of work order variability on their skilled labor force development and maintenance, and the pressures on their overhead margins in this competitive sector. The implications for battle damage repair are troublesome, and will require investments and subsidies in future budgets.

I often share videos of the Super Hornet, but some shipmates reminded me to highlight its sibling, the EA-18G Growler, specializing in electronic warfare. It plays a crucial role in jamming enemy radar and communications, adding another layer to the fight. While most aircraft are designed to avoid SAMs (Surface-to-Air Missiles), there are brave pilots and NFOs whose mission is to provoke a SAM launch, allowing them to counterattack with HARM missiles and remove the threat at its source. (Have you seen Flight of the Intruder) It’s a testament to modern aerial combat's diverse and daring strategies. --------------- If this post resonated with you, I’d be grateful if you liked it and followed me (Tony Grayson) for more insights and veteran videos. And if you’re feeling generous, a repost would mean the world. Thank You. The first step in solving any difficult problem is for leaders to define reality. This Joint Force Quarterly article does just that for the present and future state of U.S. military logistics. A few thoughts: • A paper tiger is far worse than a kitten—it projects strength it cannot deliver, making logistical deficiencies an inviting target for adversaries. • Sustaining war is impossible without robust logistics. Yet, much of our focus as Americans is on the instantaneous delivery of lethality, neglecting the vast ecosystem required for its sustainment: spare parts, maintenance, consumables, and more. We marvel at the fighter jet, the missile, and the warship as if they exist in isolation, ignoring that: • An aircraft carrier is useless without aviation fuel. • An infantry platoon without resupply is a tragic waste of patriots. Our overconfidence in instantaneous global power projection blinds us to glaring deficiencies in sustaining combat in regions critical to national security. This neglect is not only irresponsible—it invites adversarial challenge. Today, we are one oiler away from ceasing naval military operations. Wake up, America. You cannot afford the force structure you advertise because you lack the means, perhaps the will, to maintain or supply it. It’s time to face this reality. Credit to Brandon J. Weichert July 26, 2024 AbramsX: The Army's New Tank Is the New 'Aircraft Carrier' (Think Obsolete) | The National Interest https://lnkd.in/gRHt46-U Despite criticisms of main battle tanks (MBTs) in recent conflicts, the U.S. is advancing with the AbramsX, the latest iteration of the Abrams tank. The AbramsX features advanced Chobham armor, a 120mm smoothbore gun, and a 1,500 horsepower gas turbine engine, providing superior protection, firepower, and mobility. It also includes a digital command system and a laser warning receiver. However, its relevance in modern warfare is debated, much like the U.S. Navy's aircraft carriers, as it might be designed to fight past conflicts. In the Iraq War, MBTs were next to useless as the insurgency got underway. In Ukraine now, the Russians are so afraid of risking their advanced T-14 Armata tanks that they are relying on the old Soviet-era T-72 MBT to do the heavy lifting. (These systems are easy to produce and relatively cheap.) America’s newest AbramsX MBT is a modern marvel of engineering – like, for example, America’s vaunted fleet of aircraft carriers. The new Abrams combines advanced armor, firepower, mobility, and technology to create a tank that’s a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. Much like the U.S. Navy’s flattops, though, the AbramsX, while advanced, might be designed to fight yesteryear’s wars.

🇺🇸🇺🇦 We demonstrated one of Ukraine's most renowned global developments — the Magura surface drone — to the American delegation, including congressmen. Distinguished guests, among them officers of the U.S. Navy, had the opportunity to operate the drone and were impressed by Magura's capabilities. We are counting on U.S. support. Today, Ukraine has become a place where defense tech developments accelerate, shortening the path from idea to testing and use on the battlefield. The world must see the potential of Ukrainian innovations, become advocates for our interests, and be eager to invest more in the defense sector to enhance our technological advantage over the enemy. 🤝The organization «With Honor» and congressmen — Jim Costa, Don Bacon Jimmy Panetta, and Salud Carbajal.
