The German Navy will enhance its fleet with two more F126 multipurpose frigates, increasing the total to six. The Budget Committee of the German Bundestag recently approved this procurement, and the contract was signed on June 19 by the Procurement Organisation of the German Armed Forces (BAAINBw) and Dutch shipbuilder Damen Naval. Construction will be carried out entirely in Germany, involving shipyards in Kiel, Hamburg, and Wolgast, and engaging hundreds of suppliers across the country. The F126 frigates, at 166 meters long and up to 10,000 tonnes, will be the largest in the German fleet, designed for versatile, global operations. The delivery timeline for the new frigates has been set, with the first vessel expected in 2028 and the fifth and sixth ships scheduled for 2033 and 2034, respectively. The US Navy's Fleet Forces Command is developing a new readiness plan with potential conflicts in mind, according to an article by Federal News Network. The plan, called the Global Maritime Response Plan, aims to address the challenges of quickly mobilizing naval forces in the event of a global conflict. Admiral Daryl Caudle, speaking at the Surface Navy Association's symposium, highlighted the need to transition to a warfighting footing more rapidly and deliver real-time support to forward commanders. The plan will also involve streamlining processes and optimizing the utilization of resources and personnel. With approximately 100 ships deployed worldwide and another 100 ships unavailable for immediate deployment due to maintenance, the strategy will focus on mobilizing the remaining 100 ships effectively. Nonetheless, this perceived irony should not distract us from the necessity of making tough decisions to ensure security. 🛡 ⚓️ Shipbuilding remains vital today amid global tensions. A strong navy is not for aggression but for safeguarding our interests and security. In Europe, naval defense depends on a robust industrial supply chain, which relies on commercial shipbuilding orders. This is crucial for maintaining naval presence and deterrence. 🌍 🚨 In a world of constant threats, we cannot appear weak. These trials are crucial for testing the carrier's propulsion and electrical systems. Despite its advancements, the Fujian, powered by conventional fuel, trails behind US nuclear-powered carriers in size and endurance. 🎯🌊 The U.S. Naval Research Laboratory has tested a computer-enabled mobile targeting system for the littoral battlespace.
