Shout out to the recruiter who gave me the salary range before scheduling the first interview. A lot of time and energy was saved knowing this info upfront. It's bananas that this isn't common practice - I've been four interviews deep with places and not been given the salary. I speak on behalf of all job seekers, please either put the salary in the description, or let candidates know upfront before an interview. Bang on! Why waste everybodies time - this should be done in every screening call, why get everybody excited just to have that big fail or icky conversation of mis-alignment towards the end. We all need to do better on this, candidates need to be bold to ensure they get an answer, recruiters need to be transparent right from the start and clients need to feel trust in us that we know we’re delivering on what we promised, or if you’re in house you need to feel empowered that your offer gets the calibre of person you need. It’s just a conversation, every step of the process is about clear, honest conversations.

It's high time we move away from these counterproductive practices and focus on building a more transparent and respectful recruitment process, and let's not forget that while we expect transparency, efficiency, and respect from companies, candidates should also reciprocate with the same level of professionalism.
