Have you heard of the rule of 3? I believe this is one of the most beneficial “rules” when it comes to interactions with people, particularly if someone has rubbed you the wrong way. By the third time, it’s a behavior and if you haven’t addressed the behavior with the person, it is as much on you for excusing the behavior. Randy Wootton from Maxio sat down with Amber Wendover and Tom Perry to discuss what does it mean to be a human-centric leader. There are lots of valuable nuggets throughout this entire discussion.

As a leader, are you stretching yourself thin trying to cover all bases, or are you leveraging the power of teamwork by focusing on your strengths and entrusting tasks to others? In a discussion with Byron Morrison on The Future of Teamwork podcast, we delved into the necessity of acknowledging one's distinct "zone of genius." The essence of impactful leadership lies not in being a jack-of-all-trades but in excelling in areas of strength and enthusiasm. Spreading oneself too thin compromises leadership effectiveness. Identifying personal strengths and orchestrating a team to fill in the voids allows leaders to contribute significantly. This approach is about harnessing unique capabilities and positioning the right individuals for various tasks. Leadership’s role is more than just overcoming obstacles, it's about identifying and magnifying strengths to pave the way for team achievement. This strategy not only cultivates innovation but also propels success. I'm keen to connect with you. What defines your "zone of genius?” How do you cultivate a leadership style that propels innovation and growth in your team? #Leadership #Innovation #CEOJourney #Teamwork #FutureOfWork

3moI tell everyone about the rule of three and it’s really helpful for management and fostering collaboration across teams as it helps with miscommunications. To apply the 'Rule of Three' in team management, focus on fostering an environment of clear communication and accountability. For example, when a team member repeats a behavior, address it progressively to understand if it's a one-off mistake, a coincidence, or a pattern. This approach helps in setting clear expectations and building trust, ensuring that issues are addressed before they become ingrained habits. Crucial Conversations ® is a little dated but also still one of my favorite books on how to have high stakes conversations.
