Are you a wanting to be part of the Rich Mum Era? We hear and see and scroll over Rich Girl Era content daily. You’ve seen them - Dark mood, Versace dress, skinny black bells, dripping in diamonds and watches with a Hermes bag - not forgetting that clip where they’re slowly exiting a blacked out Porsche. 🚗 This isn’t calling them out. This is highlighting, the majority of women 40+ with older kids still don’t have those opportunities at the forefront. Many started a little side hustle to be able to school runs and attend all the things. Some made this their life’s priority. But I’ve noticed there’s no Rich Mum Era. Barely any examples of older women with teenagers in tow jumping out a wagon with 22” alloys and infinite money to shop, shop and shop (unless hubby is funding). Harsh but it’s true. The majority can’t get this without an extensive amount of work hours. Unobtainable for single mums or lonely mums especially. So what can we do about it?! #richmumera #richgirlera #richmindset

By publishing this photo, YOU are part of the problem. By portraying this age demographic in a totally unrealistic light—based on YOUR perceptions—YOU are contributing to AGE BIAS, AGE DISCRIMINATION, AND AGEISM.   I have concerns about the survey/poll, as I cannot locate the specific survey questions. Were there leading questions like: Do you believe your age puts you at a disadvantage when finding a new job?   Here is a direct quote that concerns me from the American Staffing Association (ASA) website: "Overall, a majority of Baby Boomers (53%) say their age limits their career opportunities.” Was the leading question: Do you think your AGE limits your career opportunities?   If that is the case—I rest my case. Age bias, ageism, and age discrimination are what limit career opportunities for older job seekers, job applicants, job candidates, and employees 40+50+60+. These are the age demographics protected under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 (ADEA), enforced by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).   Also, your writer needs to have an up-to-date understanding of present-day retirement. It is 2024, not the 1960s. Times have changed. In the US, mandatory retirement is limited to public safety occupations like air traffic controllers, commercial pilots, and firefighters. But the business world still expects EVERYONE to retire at 65. Do you see the disconnect?   Start by being part of the solution instead of part of the problem. You are doing a disservice to your readers by misrepresenting the reality of the current workforce as it pertains to baby boomers, both in writing and the unfortunate image you chose to accompany the article. My two day train ride from Oregon to my home gave me the opportunity to help fellow travelers and it was exactly what I needed to invigorate me as I relaunch my business. Maybe you will recognize yourself in these people, or someone you know. Try any or all of these tips. #healthcare Three older women hiking up a small mountain were discussing the challenges of balance and posture. Advice: I recommended they use walking sticks in order to train their bodies to be more upright, in better alignment. Holding the sticks up places shoulder joints in a better position so you can engage your shoulder blade muscles more easily. Those shoulder blade muscles are the “core” of your upper back and can prevent that ‘forward head’ we struggle with. A 72 year old man with typical chronic conditions: high blood pressure, swollen legs, breathing difficulties, painful joints-especially in his feet. Advice: I recommended he get a good brand of support socks; even just 15-20 mmHg, like the ones I had on during my ride. I then offered him a lacrosse ball to place under his feet to massage the muscles in his arch while seated. He could then bend and extend his toes as the ball releases more tension. I recommended he regularly bend, extend, and spread his toes to really open up and stimulate his circulation and reduce some of the swelling. A weary traveler whose back was in knots. Advice: I offered him a lacrosse ball and showed him how to use the ball behind his back to massage and soften his tight muscles. I instructed him to do it not so hard as to hurt himself, but just enough to loosen things and to exhale the pain and tension out. Traveling and offering little self care tips to ease some pain and suffering is my dream come true.
