✨ Exciting News ✨ As you might already know, I’m one of the candidates for the Globalization and Localization Association (GALA) Board for the 2024-2025 term. Thanks for your support Acolad group 🚀 I’m in the company of outstanding candidates Britta Aagaard Johan Sporre Dora Murgu Mladen Stojak Louise Law Volodymyr Kukharenko Sudheen M Paulo Guimarães Steve Braich who all bring amazing things to the table. I'm passionate about our industry and believe that GALA is the ideal place for me to channel this passion and energy to make a difference. Throughout my career, I've witnessed the powerful impact of language and localization services on business growth and global expansion. Now, in a time when our world faces transformative challenges and unparalleled opportunities, I truly believe our industry is not just a participant but a leader in this era of global change. As a candidate for the GALA Board, I am committed to championing for this evolution and infusing our journey with unity, creativity, and fun. My candidacy is built around three core pillars: 1.    Embracing change: Our industry, and indeed all industries worldwide, face a competitive landscape that demands quick adaptability and innovative solutions. It's the time to drive change and showcase the impact language and localization can have on growth and revenue.   2.    The power of partnerships: I am a firm believer in the power of partnerships. Collaboration and breaking boundaries are at the core of my approach. GALA is more than just an industry association; it's a dynamic community. Through knowledge sharing, best practices, networking, and advocacy, GALA empowers industry professionals to learn, grow, and inspire one another. Together, we can achieve more and drive our industry to new heights.   3.    Have fun along the way! The third pillar stands for laughter and lightness! In our journey of growth and transformation, let's not forget to laugh. Fun is one of the most efficient catalysts for creativity, innovation, and relationships. GALA is not just about serious industry discussions; it's also about enjoying the journey together, celebrating successes, and creating memorable moments and connections that help drive us forward. For those who are responsible for planning the operations and strategic direction of their nonprofit’s board, I offer a few suggestions based on one of the boards that I serve on, Landscape Architecture Foundation. ☑️ Make at least 1 seat available to emerging leaders. Their perspective is invaluable. ☑️ Meetings in-person should be designed around spending time for breaking bread together and building relationships during which all other work is set aside for maximum and genuine attention towards each other as humans and the greater big picture mission of the organization. ☑️ Hosting online committee meetings has proven effective, because relationships are also built from f2f video interactions, as groups commit time to do actual work together with the best brains. ☑️ Spend less time on fancy presentations and presenting to each other, and more time providing valuable industry updates through conversational report outs and with data! ☑️ Focus on information mobility! Communication is a board’s key responsibility. Figure out how to mobilize the information that shows you’re paying attention to your audience’s needs and pain points.
