1 week in-person at Backcountry, 4 weeks in my new Production Manager role. Here’s what I’ve learned: 1. Don’t rush in. Take your time to learn the people, the products, the process. 2. You know more than you think. Sounds crazy, but you’re qualified for the job they hired you for! If the new role includes a promotion, find confidence in the fact that they see that you’re ready for it. 3. Your coworkers are not looking for flaws. Everyone is excited about the skills you bring to the team, and they understand that there will be missteps as you learn. 4. Your managers should and will say thank you. They will trust your know-how and will voice appreciation for your work on the small things (that’s where experience really shows!) 5. Dogs should always be allowed in the office. Non-negotiable happiness will follow 😊

Early in my career: I wish I was invited to more meetings. A very short portion of my career: Cool, I feel so special being part of these meetings. Now: Sigh. This meeting better be necessary, to the point and over as soon as possible. During one unforgettable summer in college, I took a job as an inventory specialist. The journey kicked off with a week-long orientation, conquering the 10-key like a pro. Every day at 2 AM, I'd rendezvous at the company parking lot, hopping into a 15-passenger van bound for various retail stores, armed with my trusty shoebox-sized battery-powered 10-key hanging from a well-worn belt. For nearly 8 hours each day, I meticulously counted merchandise, leaving little sticky notes as markers of completed shelves. From grocery stores to gas stations, drug stores to hardware stores, and even Kmart – my domain was often the room deodorizer aisle, forever linked to the scent of Febreze. Key Takeaways from the Inventory Chronicles: 💼 Mastering the 10-key became second nature – a skill that served me well beyond the inventory world. 🌙 Discovering a nocturnal world where many did their grocery shopping with groggy kids in tow. 😴 Realizing that, despite being a night owl, the overnight shift wasn't my jam. Irregular eating and sporadic sleep made me grateful it was just a summer stint. 🔩 Learning the art of efficiency – counting bolts in hand and then handfuls in a large barrel vs counting each.and.every.bolt to save headaches. 🌵 Surviving the scorching Arizona desert during a warehouse inventory with no A/C in record heat by wisely volunteering for the chocolate room – the coolest choice I ever made. Now, over to you! What's the quirkiest job you've ever had, and what did it teach you? Share your stories in the comments! Let's celebrate the unique paths that shape our professional journeys. 🚀 #WorkAdventure #CareerStories #ProfessionalGrowth

At my job, Publix stock clerk, i have learned many valuable things. These things consist of, how to work with a team properly, leadership skills, how to stay organized, how to have more professional interactions, and basic skills that come along with the job. I have had opportunities that allow me to learn these things from offloading a truck and stocking shelves which help me with time management, professional interactions with my higher ups and customers, and I also need to be organized when putting things in the right places to conserve as much space as possible in the back. All of these interactions and situations have better prepared me for my future and other careers in the future. From learning key communication keys, to organization skills. Everything I have been taught, and more, have allowed me to learn the basic skills and proper etiquette with having a job/career. @EHS WBL/YAP #EtowahWBL #GeorgiaWBLWorks

We work closely with our parent company Sevendots, a global consultancy of senior CPG industry experts. They've all had impressive careers in major companies before joining Sevendots. In this section we collect their tips and tricks on how to kickstart your own successful career. This month we spoke to Elisa Costa, who has experience at Kellogg's, Kraft Heinz, Mars and General Mills. Here's what she had to say: ➡️ What's the best or worst job decision you ever made? The best decision I have made is to approach each job with curiosity to understand, openness to learn and focus in making an impact. ➡️ What is the most significant change in the CPG industry you have noticed since you have started out? I would say the impact of digital technologies on the evolution of consumer needs, on media and on consumers relationships with brands. ➡️ How do you maintain work-life balance? Through flexibility. I’ve never thought there is a rule or a way that works for everyone and for every phase of life. So, I have always tried to keep questioning and exploring my needs throughout each phase of my life, defining and setting the boundaries I felt needed and appropriate each time. ➡️ What is a piece of advice you would want to give to Gen Z wanting to start out in the CPG industry? I have 2: 1. Stay very close to consumer and customers and never forget to wear their hat. Keep them central in everything you shape. 2. And of course, approach each job with curiosity to understand, openness to learn and focus in making an impact 😊

Two people that you see in this wonderful video made by tiket.com are our Blind and Deaf Mentees: Zaenal and Fauzi. This interaction and collaboration truly fills my soul! I am so proud of both tiket.com as a company and its employees (our Mentors), but also the interns (our Mentees) for making it happen. Together they break the glass ceiling: employing, embracing, accepting and working with persons with Disability! Because even though Disability employment has progressed in recent years, we haven't solved all problems yet. According to 2020 data, there's only 28.6% of PwD in Indonesia that work in the formal sector. Therefore through our Leadership & Inclusive Training (LIT) programs, Yayasan Helping Hands is creating a concrete and sustainable ecosystem that connects special education schools and companies. We are working with various stakeholders to ensure that students with Disability are getting the knowledge, skills and real experience that are needed to thrive and succeed in the 21st century. It's easy to say that disability should not be a barrier to achieve success, but it's harder to accept that it should not be a barrier for all of US to achieve success TOGETHER. This is my invitation for us to see what we can do as an individual and company to open up work accessibility to PwD. The time is now, and the right person is you. #ChampionForInclusion Lastly, a special appreciation to ka Dudi Arisandi, our awesome LIT Mentor who's been a true #ChampionForInclusion in leading tiket.com to walk the talk of diversity and inclusion.
Embracing the spirit of this season in the office with a joy-filled celebration!🎅🏼 Our workplace was buzzing with warmth and happiness with a week filled with yummy treats, exciting challenges, prize giveaways, and especially the heartwarming Braille challenge with our intern Zaenal and the Sign Language challenge with Fauzi from Yayasan Helping Hands. It's a joyous thing and creates a holiday atmosphere that sparkles with happiness✨#HAPPYattiket #MerryChristmas
