When it comes to showing recognition for the good work people do, bigger isn't always better.
Sure, accolades and awards can be great.
But have you ever had someone tell you how grateful they are for you?
No spot lights.
No LinkedIn post.
No blasting it on the company email chain.
Just one-on-one,
Telling someone how special they are.
Now that's something people never forget.
You see,
Many managers think showing recognition has to be this big public occasion.
They'll go through all the trouble to show recognition,
But won't take the little step to thank someone privately.
Here's a groundbreaking thought ... do both!
Do the big stuff sure,
But remember it's the private stuff that feels really meaningful.

GreenSquareAccord has announced receiving 254 nominations for their Gold Star Awards, describing this as an impressive 42% increase over last year’s entries. However, this claim seems somewhat underwhelming, especially considering their workforce size and the upcoming expenditure for the awards ceremony.
To put this in perspective, with an employee base ranging between 1,000 and 5,000, the 254 nominations represent only about 5.08% to 25.4% of their total staff. Last year’s nominations, calculated to be around 179, indicate a low participation rate.
Moreover, it is important to note that these nominations are solely from staff members, with no input from customers or residents. This exclusion is disheartening, particularly considering the crucial role that customers and residents play in the organisation’s operations. Their feedback and recognition would provide a more comprehensive and authentic measure of performance and service quality.
When considering the costs associated with organising and hosting an awards ceremony, including logistics, venue, awards, and lost productivity, one must question the efficiency and impact of this exercise. The expenditure seems extravagant and not necessarily reflective of broad recognition across the organisation.
Given these figures and the lack of customer/resident involvement, it's crucial to consider whether the awards genuinely enhance morale and recognition or if they simply serve as a costly tradition with limited reach. In light of these numbers, the resources allocated to the Gold Star Awards might be better invested in more impactful employee and customer engagement initiatives, or better yet spent making the homes of their residents safe, warm and dry.
We’ve received 254 nominations for our Gold Star Awards, an impressive 42% increase on last year.
Our awards are an important opportunity for us to recognise and reward the colleagues and teams who go above and beyond and enable us provide a great service to our customers.
Our final ceremony will take place on Wednesday 3 July 2024. We can’t wait to crown our winners, good luck everyone!
Join us in a round of applause 👏

Running a business can sometimes feel like a lonely journey.
You’re at the helm, making big decisions, and often, it feels like you’re doing it all by yourself.
But I’ve found something that’s changed the game for me.
I really liked the concept of BOD Board of Directors, which Akshar Sir has created in the mentoring and it's like having a super team by your side.
This board isn’t just any group—it’s made up of leaders from 12 different industries.
Whenever we have BOD meetings, we challenge each other with difficult questions, so that we arrive at the right decisions rather than taking a wrong decision.
This helps us in paving our way to growth.
We share ideas, challenge each other's thinking, and tackle tough questions together.
It’s been a blessing.
Having this diversity of thought has helped me make smarter, more informed decisions.

I want to express my deepest gratitude to our 13 esteemed Hon. Board of Directors. Your guidance, dedication, and strategic insights are invaluable to our company's growth and success. Each of you brings unique expertise and perspective, driving our innovation and performance. Your support has been crucial in navigating challenges and seizing opportunities. After a hectic day of discussions, we enjoyed a fun evening together 🎉, highlighting the camaraderie and respect that make our team exceptional. Thank you for being an essential part of our journey and for your ongoing contributions to our vision. 🚀
I saw a recent post from an executive (a former CEO) who had received a couple of different lifetime achievement awards from the industry he spent his career in. The executive said he was honored and rightfully gave credit to the employees of the companies he led.
That’s all well and good but making sure those people are recognized at every opportunity is more important. I know someone who traveled all over the world for several years accomplishing major goals for their company. Their EVP even accepted an award overseas for all that work at a major industry event. Great, right? Well, except for the part where he came back to the office, showed off the award to his staff and said, “Does anyone know what this award was for?”.
Don’t be THAT executive. The one who doesn’t have a clue about major projects your teams are working on and how long and how hard they’ve been working on them. Likewise, don’t be a direct report to that executive who fails to make sure they know what their people are doing and how it’s contributing to the company.
There are things that separate the great bosses — the ones employees all want to work for — from the ones that make people want to work somewhere else. Recognizing the accomplishments of the people who work for you as they’re happening and being openly thankful for the way those accomplishments reflect on you is at or near the top of the list.
Entering the awards isn't just about seeking recognition; it's about pushing yourself and your business to new heights. It's about stepping out of my comfort zone and challenging yourself to excel in ways you never thought possible.
The process of preparing for the awards forces you to critically evaluate every aspect of your business and identifies the achievements with celebrating and areas for improvement.
When you are entering – you already winning.

Success deserves celebration.
Taking the time to celebrate achievements, big or small, not only acknowledges hard work but also motivates and inspires continued effort and dedication. This is especially true if you're a leader of a company or a team.
Recognizing the success of hitting a corporate revenue goal:
➡ Shows your team you notice them
➡ Elevates the sales, marketing, and ops teams who made it happen
➡ Shows the employees that you're paying attention to the details of their actions, not just numbers.
➡ It reinforces the value of the journey and the effort invested.
➡ Creates an environment where achievement is valued.
What are you celebrating this month?

The most important thing to know in a business is what your customers think about it,
Ours said it very well...🏆👏🙏
But the true story behind it is the ecosystem we have with our employees and partners,
They are all valuable to us
Of all the awards we receive, this is the one that means the most to us. It reflects the dedicated efforts and teamwork of everyone and every role in the company for our customers, every day. The Elites Awards did not disappoint 🏆
Here’s one thing they really promote.
Always make time to recognise your success.
Even if things aren’t going exactly to plan.
It’s easy to think that when you’re not where you want to be.
That everything is going wrong.
To question your process, product and so on.
But it’s important to find the parts that are going well.
To acknowledge what is working.
Stay consistent with that.
Whilst working on the other aspects.
Plenty of the winners mentioned this last week when taking their award.
Acknowledging what is working, even when things are tough, isn’t toxic positivity.
It’s not burying your head in the sand and ignoring challenges.
It’s giving yourself the credit you deserve.
Which helps you deal with the challenges you’re going through.
Always make time to acknowledge your wins.
No matter how big or small they are.
Many years ago, I found myself in a room full of men twice my age where I was presenting ideas and solutions that if effective would have brought success to a company that I fundamentally didn’t agree with.
I was a young woman trying to make my way in the world, champing at the bit to contribute and make a noticeable impact, when it hit me - my values did not align with the company values, I did not believe in the vision, and because of that, I was never going to succeed (or feel fulfilled) no matter how hard I worked.
That's when I made a pact with myself to find a company that aligned with my values and where I could commit to the vision. And I found Argus.
Now, as CEO, I look for that alignment. It’s the secret sauce for bringing people together who are excited and fulfilled and are also fully committed to magnifying Argus’ impact. Here’s what alignment looks like to me:
🤝 When we’re in alignment, we can disagree intensely, but our debate is fruitful. The conversation provides clarity, not resentment. The tension sparks ideas, not fires.
💸 When we’re in alignment, everyone understands when we pass on an opportunity that financially seems great but would betray our company values.
💡 When we’re in alignment, people bring me ideas that aren’t on my radar, are not part of my plan (often even mess up my plans!), but so clearly support or even catapult us toward the vision that I have to say, “let’s do it.”
So evaluate who you are and what you want: to innovate, save the climate, or just save enough money to travel more. It’s completely up to you. Then find a place where your values align with the company’s values and vision. You don’t have to agree with every decision all the time (in fact, I’d advise you don’t), but from my experience you’ll find much more fulfillment in your own growth and successes when your work and your values align.
