~287,000 women died during and following pregnancy and childbirth in 2020, yet most maternal deaths could have been prevented. Almost 95% occurred in low and lower middle-income countries. The high number of maternal deaths in some areas of the world reflects inequalities in access to quality health services, according to the World Health Organization. All women deserve access to high-quality care in pregnancy, and during and after childbirth, as timely treatment can make a difference. #InternationalDayforMaternalHealthandRights #IntlMHRDay #MaternalHealth #BMHW24

The evidence strongly supports the safety of birth centers as a viable option for birthing individuals. Birth centers adhere to evidence-based standards of care for low-risk pregnancies. They work in collaboration with other healthcare providers to ensure the appropriate level of care throughout pregnancy, labor, delivery, and the postpartum period. Maintaining the established Standards for Birth Centers is crucial for the safety of the families being served. https://buff.ly/419Pdaz #aabc #birthcenter #evidencebasedcare
