As we observe #BlackMaternalHealthWeek, it's crucial to shed light on the disproportionate health risks Black mothers face, like a higher risk for preeclampsia and a fatality rate that is 3 to 4 times higher compared to non-Hispanic white women. Early detection and equitable care can change outcomes. Let's commit to empowering women with knowledge and support for better health outcomes.

The common advice, even for pregnant women until recently, has been that caffeine is not an issue in small to moderate amounts. Yet a new meta-analysis that looked at 42 observational studies reveals that there really is no safe amount of caffeine for expectant mothers or those who are trying to get pregnant.
