Are you planning to watch the US election debate tonight? Then we have an article for you! In Kelsey Hickman's "To Proceed Accordingly or with Caution: The United States' Post-election Policy Plans for NATO," she analyzes the main differences between Harris's and Trump's promises for global security. "Trump and his affiliates have proposed restructuring NATO to prioritize U.S interests, whereas Harris pledges to strengthen the international alliance and collective security." This pre-debate read provides contextual evidence for the candidate's different visions for the future of American foreign relations. Hickman argues that the embedded centrality of the United States in the international community is at the heart of the presidential election and makes the outcomes pictorial for NATO's future. "As Americans plan to head to the polls, the world is watching... whether the next president redefines or reaffirms America's role, the outcome will have lasting implications for NATO and the global order." [Updated] After the results of the EU parliamentary elections, it is evident that centrists and the new right/conservatives have a common goal; security. In this article, I put forth rational ways of attaining long-term security. Either security is centralized (si vis bellum, para bellum) or peace is pursued (si vis pacem, para pacem). Furthermore, I explain other risks and their outcomes since the beginning of the war like the legitimization of oppressive regimes like in Azerbaijan due to their oil and gas as an alternative to that of Russia's and more. #foreignpolicy #internationalrelations https://lnkd.in/eDQf5KpN

The first thing I did when I joined RUSI three years ago was to map out the election cycles of the Euro-Atlantic community and wrote this piece on 'Political Volatility is Disrupting European Security'. European security is all about domestic politics and understanding this is fundamental to analysis (and its why things generally go painfully slow...) https://lnkd.in/e8PrAdJ2

Healix Strategic Advisor - Political Risk, Ambassador Ivo Daalder, explores the uncertainties and risks for business associated with a highly polarised and unpredictable US election, featured in GZERO Media. With Joe Biden withdrawing and Kamala Harris rising swiftly in the polls, this election could see unexpected shifts that dramatically alter the political playing field, and pose a risk to democracy itself. A victory for either candidate could significantly impact international relations, including the Ukraine-Russia conflict and NATO alliances. Domestically, either outcome is likely to intensify social tensions and reshape policies on key issues. As APAC wakes to another huge piece of news on the US election, #RANE has just released updated analysis on the immediate questions around what this means over coming weeks and months. Joe Biden's withdrawal from the presidential race and endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris make her the likely Democratic candidate, however no matter who becomes the new candidate, foreign policy positions would remain largely aligned with Biden's, particularly on China, Russia and NATO. Please reach out if you are keen to dive into the #risk implications for your business and how the outcomes of #geopolitical changes the outlook ahead
