Day 6 – The Network of KM Malta Airlines On this 6th day before our inaugural flight, KM640, to Catania on 31 March, we will explain our network strategy. A commercially efficient network is key to the financial sustainability of any airline. Together with industry-leading experts at SABRE Consulting, we have undertaken an extensive mapping exercise to design a new route network that is the most commercially efficient network to connect Malta to Europe. SABRE’s output proposed a new network using a ‘clean-sheet’ approach, resulting in enhanced territorial connectivity between the Maltese Islands and Europe Although the total number of routes has been reduced from 23 to 17, we have added increased frequencies on some of our core and mature routes to improve our product offering and to maximize aircraft utilization to 12.03 hours per aircraft per day. We have simultaneously increased the number of Business Class seats to 36 with a sales focus to maximize the load factor in this class. We will fly to 17 airports in 15 key Western European cities and attach to the bigger airlines through codeshare agreements and interline partnerships. These are important passenger and cargo hubs that provide excellent connectivity across the globe. With Malta’s size and population making long-haul routes unprofitable and unsustainable in the long run, it is crucial to rely on indirect connectivity from such airports as a gateway to the rest of the world. The slide below shows the airports worldwide that are just two flights away from Malta based on the 17 Western European airports that KM Malta Airlines will fly to. WE CONNECT PEOPLE COUNTRIES AND CARGO. #kmmaltaairlines #aviation #travel #aviation #airlines #europe #malta #visitmalta #sabre

In the year to date, the infrastructure has registered 7.6% more passengers. What about you? Are you planning to fly to Asturias? The natural paradise, your destination, awaits you on the horizon. All time high for international guests at Scandinavian Mountains Airport Scandinavian Mountains Airport AB in Malung-Sälens kommun, was inaugurated in December 2019. Soon after, the pandemic hit the world and the high targets for the number of travelers to the airport were crushed. There are now clear signs that the airport and the industry in general have begun to recover. - Things have turned around and we are ready for takeoff, says Gunnar Leman, CEO at Scandinavian Mountains Airport. The initial, overall goals regarding the number of travelers were set high: 350,000 guests within a 10-year period. That number still exists today, but it is further ahead on the horizon. The numbers on an annual basis have had to be revised after the pandemic, and they follow an expected, increased trend. Last weekend, five airplanes landed and took off from the airport with a total of 1,250 passengers, which is the second best number since the airport opened just over four years ago. The record is from a Sunday in February 2022. - Last Saturday we had two airplanes from Amsterdam, one each from London, Groningen (the Netherlands) and Copenhagen. It was the best international day so far. In February 2022, it was mostly about domestic flights, explains the airport's CEO, Gunnar Leman. To date, this season they have had almost 15,000 passengers, which is 40 percent more than the same period last year. According to the current forecast, the airport will reach around 25,000 passengers on 400 different flights this season. Last year there were a total of 17,888 passengers. - The interest in flying here is huge. Both airlines and tour operators have increased as they become aware of our existence, says the CEO. This winter's three biggest airlines are with TUI and Transavia from Amsterdam, SAS - Scandinavian Airlines from Copenhagen and Transavia from Groningen (The Netherlands). - The goal in the long term is of course that there will be flights to and from Scandinavian Mountains Airport in the summer, for which many have already shown interest. Maybe there will be domestic flights already this summer, we'll see. Hopefully we will also receive the first international flight from the Netherlands (Groningen), next summer in 2025, Gunnar Leman says. #investindalarna #visitdalarna https://bit.ly/4bWNydM

Volotea has deliberately avoided the competitive UK low-cost travel market since it launched in April 2012 preferring to focus primarily on opportunities in France and Italy. It briefly operated seasonal flights from Southampton International Airport Limited to Ibiza (S17) and Palma de Mallorca (S16 and S17). But now UK-based #avgeeks have another chance to try this interesting airline as they are operating year-round flights 2-weekly between London Gatwick and Aeroport de Strasbourg. Non-stop flights between London and Strasbourg have had a chequered history in the last 20 years. The route has been served by Air France, easyJet, Flybe, Ryanair - Europe's Favourite Airline and VLM. Volotea's service started flying on 9 November 2023, providing a non-stop service for the first time in four years. For more analysis on route developments at Europe's airports and airlines check out AIR SERVICE ONE and subscribe to the FREE weekly newsletter. Stephanie Wear, Valeria Rebasti, Martine Sahl

Qantas looking to expand the network and keep the Roo soaring! ✈ "...adopting a nimble and “agile” approach to extending the Qantas network: studying destinations and ‘city pairs’, crunching the numbers, and if those numbers stack up, moving fast to take advantage of it – but if demand later softens, being prepared to move on." #qantas #businesstravel #aviation https://lnkd.in/g2Ed96VE
